Wait what?!

I checked my University of Illinois application today, and it said they received my essays on November 2nd, but received my payment on November 1st.

I submitted my essays with my payment!

Does this mean that I didn't meet the priority deadline even though I submitted before the November 1st deadline?!

1) That probably means that the system didn’t process the essays until Nov. 2nd, even if you clicked submit on the 1st.

2) Asking if that means you didn’t meet the deadline for priority applicants is really a question you should be asking the admissions department, not us.

3) This should teach you not to submit things at the last possible second whenever possible. Remember Murphy’s Law.

I submitted the morning of November 1st. It was the absolute earliest I could do it since I had been stricken by H1N1 the entire week before, and I had to use some time to edit my essays. I only got better on Sunday morning. :</p>

I guess I am still unmoved. I submitted my grad school applications something like a month before they were due.

Glad to hear you recovered from the flu ok though.

Lucky you, at least your still at least made it to the university. I’ve sent my material out weeks ago and nothing has appeared besides my Oct test scores. I’m really unhappy about the situation since I like the school.

Did you guys do the paper application or something instead of online? Shouldn’t this all be instantaneous? Just call the admissions office and ask.

I did online, have already contacted admission office and gotten a response that it should only take 1-2 weeks for processing etc… and how I should probably see if my counselor did right address etc…

Coolbrezze, you should check with your counselor to make sure he or she addressed the transcripts correctly. If that doesn’t help, maybe resend in your test scores and transcripts and explain to the office your circumstances.

boneh3ad, I did it online as well. Apparently, not instantaneous. As for my other applications, they are definitely not going into the system the last day they are due. This was kinda weird in circumstances, but you’re right - I should have prepared for the worse. I have contacted the office and they said that my problem is actually a system glitch that happens quite a bit. They look at the date they received the payment, since that can only be received if the application is completed.

^
Yeah I’m really unhappy about the situation, I thought I would have met Illinois priority deadline now my chances of admission are maybe even slimmer. I really don’t know what to do right now, I have no ideal what happen.

There is no need to worry man. As long as you clicked “submit” on november first you are fine. I had the same problem for U of C because I submitted the app on Nov. 1 and it was downloaded on the 2nd. They told me that it is on time. For U of I the same applies. In 1-2 weeks you status will change from regular admission to priority admission.
