Waiting...Chances in the Meantime

I know that Harvard evaluates its applicants wholistically and that no specific portion determines the outcome, but I'm curious about the impact my GPA (3.98) would have. I have a 4.0 for sophomore and junior year (skipped freshmen), but I got a B+ senior year first semester. All comments welcome!

NOTE: this is NOT intended to be showy, boastful...anything of the kind. Just curious. Looking forward to your input!

Concern: GPA not a 4.0....

Tell me if you need more info. Thanks!

Bump…Bump

I think one B makes you human!

Now really… 16 classes as a sophomore? 14 classes as a junior? what school do you go to?

^We could take some different classes every semester :)

It seems like you have as good of a shot as any typical legitimate Harvard applicant.

Whether that means you’ll get in, I can’t say for sure.

167 Views and 5 responses? Come on…

“Concern: GPA not a 4.0…”

A 3.97 is virtually a 4.0, really

i say you’re probably in, especially with all your awards ; they are pretty incredible

16 classes in a year…you borrow one of the ministrys time turners?

anyways, id say youve got as good a chance as anyone

I don’t mean to be rude, but if you are going to preface your post with

then I don’t see why you would make the post in the first place. You obviously know that you have done [most] everything that you can, just like many other Harvard applicants, and that at this point either you will get in or you won’t.

^ I see your point. My note was just a clarification to reduce any misunderstanding. I know no one could predict the decision–that’ll have to wait until April–this is just a good old “chance” post. Plus, it’s interesting to see your opinions.

Bump…Bump

wastes away in own ineptitude
Yeah well…well…I have friends!

There’s no sure thing for anybody.
And you said nothing about who you are.
(Location, Ethinicity, etc)

^Um…like I said, this is just a chance thread–chillax. Sorry, but your post makes very little sense. Location and ethinicity are factors, but they are not primary ones. Merit always counts.

your stats seem meh to me

i basically had the same gpa and sat except mine were 4.0 and 2400

To OP if you could try to look beyond exactly what I wrote and think about it for a second, it makes a lot of sense.
And those things are factors. Your merit is a factor, but with the hollistic approach to chance we need to know more about you. But actually, I can pretty much guess the type of person you are from those few posts I’ve seen you make. Not your race or anything, but I can guess your personality.

One B?

Frick lol. I’m worrying about 7 right now. (and I bet all your heads are going “Ya, she’s gonna get rejected.”)

Only completed 5 research projects? I don’t think you’re going to get in dude… harvard requires at least 7 completed and presented projects. It’s probably too late now to do a couple more.

These types of threads just drive me crazy. (e.g. Is a 2380 SAT enough?, Help I only did 400 hours of community service!!, I had a free period senior year, will the adcoms think I’m lazy etc.). I apologize to those whom I may have offended, but that is just the way I feel. Based on the high stats you’re fretting about, you shouldn’t ask such a stupid question.
