Hi, I submitted my application for admission to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities on September 15th. They received everything on the September 29th. Why is it taking so long to receive a decision? I thought they had rolling admission. I just really want to know before Christmas so I can stop worrying about it. I went on and paid the Housing application fee. Anyone else still waiting on a decision? I am out of state and applied to CEHD.
Maybe you should read the web site
https://admissions.tc.umn.edu/admissioninfo/fresh_deadlines.html
@“Erin’s Dad” I "appreciate"your response but I have read the website and I am wondering why several people are getting decisions before me even though they applied like a month after me. Also, the question was for people who applied this year and who are waiting on a decision.
@sdsupride I don’t think there is really and rhyme or reason to what order schools go in. My D applied in August, had everything in by end of August and just found out on Friday her acceptance. We’ve had different experiences at each of the 5 schools she’s applied. Kentucky was the fastest by far with their review and acceptance. IU was a bit slower than we expected, MSU and OSU were right about what we expected and Minnesota was a lot slower than we thought it would be.
We are also out of state, don’t know how much that factors into their review period.
@dcolosi If you don’t mind me asking, what were your daughters stats?
@sdsupride Hey! I actually go to SDSU right now. My application was complete on November 3 and I got accepted on November 9. Can’t wait to go to the U!
@sutath Haha That’s cool. I applied to SDSU but I am not counting on an admission. Why are you leaving SDSU of you don’t mind me asking?
@sdsupride My D’s stats are a W GPA 3.72, 26 ACT & 1210 SAT (CR & Math) old SAT.
@sdsupride - UMN doesn’t say it has “rolling admission”. That is something that USNews and other newsies have (perhaps incorrectly) interpreted from the U’s prior admission process. UMN has always admitted the strongest applications first, even if they come in at a later time. As long as they meet the priority deadline, they will be moved ahead of others in the pipeline.
Last year a good number of applications were accepted in December (including my D16’s) and hopefully we’ll see the same again this year. The Priority Deadline was moved from Dec. 15 to Nov. 1st so pretty much everyone has submitted by now - it’s just a matter of hearing back. Jan. 31 is the last day for that so there may be quite a big volume of responses in December and January.
Good luck to you!
@sutah - guessing you are a transfer student?
