damn you both had great stats(much better than mine)

You chose competitive clusters. I got in Bright Idea: Lights Work and I’m really excited for it. It actually sounds interesting and I think I’ll have fun with it.

I wish UCD could release the result earlier … this keeps distracting me from practicing AP exams= =

I applied to UCD, first choice was Introduction to Astrophysics(not because only a few people applied for it, I am really interested in that), and second choice was Intro to Engineering Mechanics.

I received an acceptance email yesterday morning.
UCSD Cluster 3: Living Oceans

The email was sent 4/19 at 9:30 am.
It said 165 students were accepted to San Diego.

Anyone else attending SD?

Does anyone know if they let you know who your roommate is ahead of time? How many per room? Is it in a regular dorm unit, or suites (does SD even have suites???)?

Congrats to everyone who got in/waitlisted!

@bboyed: This wait is distracting me too. I keep checking my email and the boards to see if anything is out yet! >:/

@cetacean: One of my friends who went to COSMOS at Irvine said he shared a dorm room with one other guy. But at Davis, the site says there are 6-person suites. I guess it varies by campus so you might be able to check on the SD COSMOS site.

Congrats to you guys! Now come on UCD, just send them out already! Does anybody know if the other campuses sent theirs out yet?

@geeeek: Thanks!

Good luck everybody … I hope you find out soon!

I just got into Cluster 8(Chemistry) at UCI!!! I’m so surprised and excited!!! I wasn’t putting too much hope into getting in due to my dismal freshman grades and nonexistent academic extracurriculars, BUT NOW I’M SO EXCITED :D

i wish uc davis would reply sooner!!!

@icenotmice- Congrats! My cousin went to UCI Cosmos and she fell in love with it!
@sgrewal- I fell you! i just want to know! This wait is really keeping me scared and nervous

when did you get your email?

i applied to davis as well:
- biomed
- chemistry
- astrophysics

my application is nothing outstanding though. 4.32 gpa, 229 psat, no science programs, our school doesn’t have high school mesa or science bowl and stuff.
and my essays, eh…after i submitted i realized all the better things i couldve said haha.
but i am praying dearly to God and hoping he will send me a miracle and let me get accepted to biomed (i’m definitely not quite as interested in my second and third choices)! :)

by the way, anyone find it kind of irritating that ucd says results will come out may 1 but we have to send the participant forms and supporting documents upon acceptance by may 6th? haha i wish results came out earlier!

@pwiltzuc: I got it today at… um… 3pm I think? from UCI.

@reallycool9: I noticed we only have 5 days to send everything in by May 6th too! I was hoping maybe that means they’ll announce results a little earlier than the 1st.
Good luck on biomed! I applied to that cluster too. Maybe we’ll all get in. :)

@EVERYONE: I AGREE. This wait is agonizing. Hurry up UCD! (pretty please) :P

Hi everyone,

I am in a dilemma but if anyone can help me it would very helpful and I would really appreciate your help. Well, recently I applied for COSMOS 2011, and feel I do have a very good chance to hopefully be accepted, but I also had the opportunity to do a summer internship with the MTC ([MTC – Jobs and Contracts – High School Internships](http://www.mtc.ca.gov/jobs/high_school/)). I was also planning on going to UC Berkeley Summer Session, but now these are all conflicting with each other especially the internship, and COSMOS if I do get accepted. I also have to attend a conference with my school’s Link Crew, which is mandatory, although I can settle this out with my internship or Summer Session. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on which of these would be most beneficial to do this summer in terms of college apps. I really do like all of them, and wish there was a way I could do all of them, but that seems unlikely. I heard the COSMOS does help if applying to UC’s but would an internship look better or the Berkeley Summer Session? Please help! Thank you so much for helping me! :)

@jbob1220: I know this is cliche, but you’ve really got to make your decision based on which program you are most interested in. I notice the programs you’ve listed are very different from one another. MTC is an internship in the public transportation field. COSMOS is math/science. Berkeley Summer Session will obviously give you something different depending on what course you choose to take. It makes me wonder what you’re actually interested in. Colleges aren’t looking for laundry lists of activities–you should let your interests show through what you do. If you are passionate about fields related to public transportation, go with MTC. If you are looking to go into a math/science field, go with COSMOS. Berkeley Summer Session would be a good idea if you are really interested in the school or found a course that suits you.
On the website for the program, COSMOS has released evaluations of its alumni that show most of its students go on to UCs, with Berkeley being the most common UC they go on to. This isn’t to say that COSMOS is a magic wand that gets you in to a UC–they were probably already qualified, but it certainly cannot hurt, and I’m sure it is a great program. As for your decision between MTC and the summer session, I don’t think the summer session program is that selective. MTC, on the other hand, says it only offers 35 internships, so it’s something different, if nothing else. It pays too, so if you’re really interested in the work you’ll be doing, I’d suggest you do that.

In the end, pick whatever you know will be a good use of your summer. It should be the kind of thing that does not look like padding on your college app, but an attempt to gain something from the experience. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Could the people that get into (or get rejected from) the really competitive UCD clusters please post their stats and current grade level? I’m trying to figure out what the admission criteria are. I’m especially interested in the biotech cluster. Thanks, and good luck to you all!

Did anybody else get into UCI?
