Waiting for COSMOS 2011!

totally not sure here about UCI =/

who else got accepted into UCI for other programs? usually if they wait till the end, does it mean rejection?

I received my acceptance e-mail today (4/22/2011) at 2:05 pm at UCSC. This is what it looked like:
Congratulations! You have been selected from a highly competitive group of applicants to participate in the California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science program at UC Santa Cruz! Based on the choices you made in your application, you have been assigned to Cluster 1 - Logic, Cryptography and Number Theory: Reason and Riddles.

At COSMOS, you will have the opportunity to explore exciting topics in math and science as part of a community of students who are a lot like you! You’ll be working alongside an impressive complement of instructors, researchers and mentors from UCSC and beyond. In addition, you will have the opportunity to hear from scientists and mathematicians working at the cutting edge of research in their fields. To top it off, we have a fantastic assortment of field trips and extracurricular activities for you to choose from.

Please let us know if you would like to accept this offer of admission to the COSMOS program no later then May 13th, 2011 by completing our Accepted Student Survey; a link to which can be found below. Note that failure to respond by May 13th will place your acceptance status in jeopardy. Once you have completed the survey, you will be contacted by a UC Santa Cruz COSMOS team member with detailed information on the next steps you must take before moving up to UC Santa Cruz in July! If any of your contact information has changed since you’ve applied, please contact us so we can update your information.

-4.53 GPA weighted
-Decent responses
-Calculus AB and AP Statistics as a Sophomore
-Qualified for AIME

Congrads!!!I applied to UCD, why are they taking so long? @jaysean- alot of people got there’s for UCI

UCD has the highest volume of applicants, so it makes sense that they’re the slowest to get results out. Davis applicants still have a week or so left. :/

Your right I guess

i am having second thoughts about my cluster choices
i’m guessing we’re bound to pick only from whatever ones we listed?

ARGH

Wow I see alot of these kids who get in have like 4.0’ s. I really hope a lot of kids did not apply for my cluster at UCD

i’ve seen people who’ve gotten in without 4.0s to less competitive clusters. i think you’re fine!

do they really care about freshman year gpa? mine sucked >.<

anybody else in for UCI?

I applied to the cosmos UCI program Psychoacoustics, math, and creative computing, but haven’t gotten any acceptance email yet. Also, on my application status it no longer says “applied”. Does this mean I haven’t gotten in? I heard a lot of people got their UCI acceptance already.

@817mtmat

i applied for biomedical sciences, tumor biology and the world of molecules(chemistry at a closer scale)- I, like many others, have not received anything either. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the next week or so

usually if they wait till the end- does it mean rejection?

@jay sean
thanks so much for the reassurance. I don’t think think they wait for anything but I would assume if you got on they would notify you as soon as you are accepted.

congrats to all who have been accepted!

Has anyone gotten their acceptance letter for UCI yet? I’ve been waiting for ages.

@jesskidding
no I haven’t gotten mine either. I think UCI might be one of the latest to accept.

For those of you who applied to UCD what clusters did you apply for?

accepted to first choice cluster, UCSD Molecular Biology :slight_smile:
does anyone who has attended UCSD cosmos program have any opinions/advice to offer?

does any one know which campus is hardest to get in?

UC Davis has the lowest acceptance rate
But that really depends on which cluster you are applying
I guess biotec and biomed are what make the acceptance rate so low

@ robodebate12- I applied for UCD- I applied for the Computer Security, Privacy, & Cybervillainy cluster as first, the Chemistry of Life as second and then Into to Astronomy!
@djamie-well UCD gets the most applicants so i guess UCD is,however it depends on which cluster you apply to at which campus. Like UCD is a medical school pretty much so BioMed is going to be the hardest. Which campus did you apply to?
