I applied to Penn State in mid-September and I still haven’t heard back. Should I be concerned?

No you shouldn’t, as it doesn’t matter if you have or haven’t heard back yet since Penn State admissions don’t go in order.

3.68 weighted with no summer will be a tough admit, even with a 1460 SAT. Smeal is THE most difficult major to get into at UP. It has somewhere around a 14% acceptance rate. That’s not to say it can’t happen, but it’s certainly not a sure thing. Decisions are 2/3 GPA and 1/3 test scores and other factors. Without agreeing to summer, you aren’t giving the admissions department much to work with.
@jlhpsu - What is the acceptance rate for College of Engineering at UP? Does it differ for In State vs Out of State.

I can’t really answer that question as those numbers aren’t published. The admissions department would be the only one who could answer that. The reason I know the Smeal acceptance rate is from parents reporting back here what they learn at new student orientation. I haven’t seen anyone post any engineering stats. Sufficed to say, however, that Engineering at UP is very competitive. I don’t think it matters whether you are in or OOS.
