Waiting for Decisions - Penn State Class of 2024

@skibunny2 Thank you! So happy for you and happy to see a DUS acceptance too.

Seems like a lot of OOS acceptances still. Congratulations to all!

Anyone else consumed with portal checking? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the wait is agonizing.

Yes! Two of my son’s friends already got accepted so now the wait is worse!

@SN25 , Same here. Two friends accepted already and I’m fearful this will extend to January.

I understand that PSU only promises that we’ll hear by Dec 24th, but when they release decisions randomly on a rolling basis for months in the lead up, it does make the anticipation amplified. Our other EA schools I don’t pay mind to bc I know the release date is set and that’s that.

This is much more of a rollercoaster.

@OceanIsle And then there is also the possibility of hearing by Dec 24 and that decision being a deferral until Jan 31 deadline! Penn State admissions is agonizing in its uncertainty!

@jlhpsu Exactly! I’m trying to brace myself for that deferral possibility too. :neutral:
Maybe the worst would be to be deferred then denied. :frowning:
Good luck to everyone!

My daughter applied before 11/1 with the intent of applying EA. Her portal now states “rolling” but when I look at the website it states:

“Application Deadline and Decision Information
Applicants are evaluated on a modified rolling admissions schedule. Additionally, some academic programs have limited enrollment and specific application dates. The deadline for first-year, domestic students to apply Early Action is November 1. For those students choosing not to apply Early Action and for all domestic students, we recommend submission of a complete application, including all required materials, prior to the priority application date of November 30.”

Is every app submitted prior to Nov 1 considered EA and any before Nov 30 Priority?

@collegemomfromnj Were her test scores received by Nov. 1? It’s possible they need all components for the application to be considered “complete”.

@collegmomfromnj no you had to select EA. My daughter accidentally applied rolling but emailed admissions prior to 11/1 and they changed it to EA for her. you may want to call or email them to see if you have any options now. Good luck!

Application appears complete since 11/1 . . . it seems like things may have gotten easily mixed up with applications this year since they used coalition, common and own applications . . . at the same time have EA and Priority deadlines with “modified rolling” thrown in . . . pretty confusing!

@collegemomfromnj I agree. It’s very confusing!

@collegemomfromnj there was a question on the common app asking EA, rolling etc.
Not sure which application your daughter submitted- I just pulled up my son’s common app application and it states his choice of EA
My suggestion would be to pull your application up and view your daughter’s choice- if it states EA - copy it and email Admissions with her proof- but also all the other info SRAR etc needed to be in by Nov 1 too
Make sure her SRAR is showing complete too (I know someone last year never noticed they did not submit and they found out after January)
If she chose rolling- you might want to decide whether priority would be best- if you think that I would strongly suggest emailing tonight to request that change and try to call tomorrow morning (not sure if they are opened tomorrow but I know they are closed Thursday and Friday)

Well, all of my obsessive portal checking has paid off! My daughter was accepted overnight. I checked around 8:30 pm and then 6:30 am. Instead of a small box on the left side under the picture, a large box appears across the entire page under the picture.

She is Eberly College of Science Undecided. In state, 1330 SATs, 4.2 gpa.

Good luck everyone!

@PSUPro Good news!

@pretzelgirl I have heard that the portal is updated 2x/day - midnight and noon. So once you’ve given it time to upload, check just twice a day. Might help with the sanity thing!

@csulli823 I’ve heard of one Comm admission, so apparently, that AO has started releasing accepts.

And the obsessive portal checking (OPC) continues. Still no word. I have a feeling last year’s ziveli would laugh at the irony of my situation. It’s always easy to be patient when it’s not your kid’s turn.

Waiting somewhat patiently from Happy Valley. Son applied 8/1 for HHD Biobehavioral Health with a 4.1 and 1360.

Come on, PSU. We want blue and white gear under the Xmas tree!

@Sophley Haha…I agree…Each year I get my (6) kids a themed gift and this year we got a family Corn Hole Game (Villanova my alma mater) and each kid gets their own set of bags with their college proudly displayed. Although I do have a child currently attending PSU I would still like to get Child #6 PSU corn hole bags as well!!! So the prayers for hearing prior to Christmas continue.

I just checked the portal at 10am with the thought that I’d see the usual “under review” screen, however, to my surprise my son got an acceptance!! College of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. ACT 30, GPA 3.78uw, lots of strong STEM EC’s

I’ll be crossing my fingers for everyone!! Sending lots of good acceptance vibes!

Does anyone know of any more acceptances for the college of liberal arts? I saw one a while ago, but none recently. If a child wants summer session and applied EA are they getting notified already?

I have been waiting too! Only seen one Liberal Arts acceptance on this thread so far.

I wonder if PSU will release any more overnight or if that’s a wrap for them for this holiday week.
