Better let the "dad's" over on the acceptance thread know if your ready for it to be posted.
Congrats to your Son

violadad already got it. If you mention an acceptance anywhere and don't want it posted on that thread, you had better tell us because we read pretty much everything posted in Music Majors and add anything applicable that we see to the list.

Indeed, we be quick and hopefully thorough.

yes you both are....I even looked to see if it was there before I posted....My eyesight must be going....that getting close to 50 thing :)

Those of us who are now getting farther from 50 can relate.

My daughter told me she keeps getting emails with a subject that's something like: "News from NEC Admissions." She gets all excitied and opens it to find that it's yet another piece of spam from New England College. It's starting to drive her a little nuts.

Our real waiting starts Saturday after DD has final audition....Whew...that virus she picked up seems to have left her voice intact just zapped her energy.

My kid's last one is also on Saturday at Purchase. Isn't that where you'll be also, Opera-mom?

The waiting gets so much more difficult after all the auditions are complete! This is d's first non-audition week and now I find myself keeping my eye out for the postman and e mails. D is away at a music festival this week, so I am in charge of checking e mails. When she was at a music festival last month she received a great acceptance via e mail! Could happen again, right? ;)

Keep hoping. Only a few more weeks.

This part is nerve racking, but it continues even after the degree. Trust me. ;)

Oh, I know it is only the start! H is off with older college age d for summer stock auditions while I stayed home to attend the music festival!!! I have cell phone attached to my body for reports from both auditioning/performing d's!!!

don9992

Yes we will be there with you at Purchase on Saturday...I think you are before us so you'll probably be gone....good luck. If you see a beautiful girl with a knit dress on...black on top that modulates into royal blue on the bottom who has in tow a balding father and exhausted looking mother...that would be us...come introduce yourself...her audition is 12:45

if anyone has any questions about purchase, message me!

Son got 2 calls from prof's at schools where he was accepted. They said the typical impressed, liked your audition, hope you will attend. No info on Financial aid though. Sigh.

When a school says that they're going to send letters out the last week of March this year, when would that be this month?

It depends on the school. Some get them out earlier, and a few, later. And you can't always assume that last year's timing of any institution's notification process will be repeated.

Take a deep breath, and relax.

Violadad, lol. I know what you mean about that breathing thing! S2 and I are just REFUSING to get into the minutia about when letters will come, how economics will play into acceptances and wait lists (i.e. whether schools will be going to their wait lists more because of the economics of accepted kids); what that smile meant in the audition; whether knowing on April 1st means letter in mailbox or email etc. All of these are questions he's been asked. NONE of it will help, but dang the days of March seem especially L.....O....N....G....

;)

My daughter and I just returned from a week of auditions and hers are all completed. It was exhausting and stressful but a lot of fun at the same time. Yes, the next few weeks will have much anxiety, but fortunately she will be very busy with making up missed school work, concerts, chamber music events, etc. My daughter has announced that she will stop thinking about it and and not worry-- yes, whether smiles or no smiles by faculty members during or after the audition mean anything. She is just relieved to be done!

great advice on this thread, especially the suggestion to research course plans, requirements, course offerings etc. in greater depth. and i really appreciate the advice to prepare the soft landing (plan B, in DS' case, a gap year).

something else that has helped DS is that he has been given all new repertoire which he is very excited about.

i would just like to say congratulations to everyone who has made it through the auditions! i wish everyone the best success and happy landings in the next few weeks.
