I was just curious is anyone else was going to wait for the mail rather then check the decision online. After checking online for EA (and getting deferred) I decided that I must wait for the mail during RA. Call me superstitious, but I'd rather not hear the more bad news the same way. So anyone else taking a technological step down for this round, for whatever reason?

I'd love for there not to be online decisions.
I like mail. I'm also the sort of person who wishes they just wouldn't tell us when they were sending them, and it just be a surprise.
But never the less, I'm checking online. Lack of self control =P

I couldn't wait either. As a matter of fact, I probably won't be able to sleep the night before just waiting for decisions to be online... just wanted to know why would anybody could possibly want to wait more than what's strictly necessary...

I like the "old fashioned" way too, it just seems like a more "gentle" way to break the bad news.... a thin envelope; or to anticipate the good news... a thick envelope..... However, don't think I have the willpower to wait! I'll be clicking away at 12:00 on the 17th

MIT doesn't use just plain, old envelopes for their acceptance letter, though. (The admissions office there is the most creative and personal of any I've ever seen.) Which is why learning of your acceptance through snail mail for MIT makes for a very exciting experience, which all students up to the Class of 2010 were only entitled to, since the opportunity to view decisions online wasn't introduced until this year. I don't regret viewing my online decision immediately and choosing not to wait, but if I were to make an exception for any school and wait for the snail-mail version, it would definitely be MIT.

Exactly, kryptonsa. However, I actually am going to wait for the mail. :) Also, it breaks the bad news into two parts if you're actually rejected.

If you see a small envelope, you can still hope for waitlist, but brace yourself for a rejection.

Anyway, I'm waiting. For the other people who are waiting - stay disciplined! It's harder than one would think to wait when you know that you could get your decision immediately.

I am hoping that the rejection letter takes at least a month to reach here. I would be screwed if my parents came to know that i am rejected before being accepted anywhere.

Tubes have only been used for EA admission decisions, and only for this year and the year before (prior to that, all decisions were sent in envelopes of varying sizes, and there was no online notification available). Haven't seen any word on whether they'd be sent for RD decisions this year; they were not last year.
