Waiting list '14

Lets suffer together, guys.
Your thoughts on being wait-listed? Are you keeping your name on the list? What other options do you have?

sigh Soo many people got waitlisted this year. I’m thinking it basically means rejection.
I really wanted to go to Middlebury too…so I’m gonna keep my name on the list. You?
Gotta wait for the rest of the schools, though :frowning: no more waitlists pleasee…

I’m suffering. Majorly, after a waitlist at Amherst yesterday as well (and rejection at Stanford but I’m not even going to whine about that). The arrogant voice in the back of my mind was so sure that I’d get in to Midd - it’s my favorite of all the LACs.

Honestly, I don’t know what I’m going to do now. I’m already accepted at WUSTL and Northwestern. But I wouldn’t want to attend Midd without having done an overnight visit, and I don’t know if they allow those for WLs, so I don’t know if I’ll take a spot.

This crushes me, though, because my GC was pretty sure I’d get in. If I didn’t get in here, I can pretty much kiss Dartmouth/Williams/Duke/Princeton/Cornell goodbye.

Actually…an overnight visit COULD help if you are waitlisted, though I’m not sure. Colleges want you to continue demonstrating interest after being waitlisted to show that you really want to go there. I wouldn’t give up hope on all of those schools either - someone here got into MIT and got WL from Midd. I got WL and I got into Swarthmore/Bowdoin early write. Another person I know got a likely letter from Dartmouth but got WL at Amherst. A WL is not the end of the world.

I’m on the waitlist at Middlebury as well.

I didn’t expect to get accepted, but still… I like Middlebury a lot, so being on the waitlist isn’t too fun. I got into Carleton, which I’m happy about, but I’d go to Middlebury over Carleton any day.

I’m international. I thought I was going to get rejected, so waitlist gives me some hope. Still waiting to hear from another college. If anything works out, I’ll have to stay here. Sad stuff.

Cheer up guys! Maybe we’ll make the cut. I’m really praying for people who have Middle as a back-up to get into the Ivies and leave us our spot haha. I know I’m being too optimistic, but we need to be happy and grateful that we didn’t get rejected at first instance.

I’ve gotten waitlisted at six schools, no acceptances and no rejections. MIDD being one of them. I’ve been waitlisted at my more safety-like schools and at my more selective schools alike.

Yeah, this sucks…

I got accepted at Amherst and waitlisted at Midd. So I’m completely at LOSS as to how to gauge my situation for the April 1 decisions, but I have a sinking feeling I have to kiss those hopes goodbye.

meghna, you know it was just cause of aid issues  that’s what im telling myself, both international, both applied for FA, both waitlisted.

I’m also waitlisted at Amherst and Vassar, which makes this all the more fun. [/sarcasm]

I hope we get in!!

I got waitlisted at WUSTL…good luck guys

do any of you know how many students were waitlisted?

wait listed middlebury and wustl

Waitlisted Middlebury. Don’t think I’m going to take the spot. Would choose Bowdoin over Middlebury any day.

light10491 what about tufts?

light10491: My thoughts exactly.

I think I may just stay on the wait list, cause I mean, what it’ll hurt? I think I’m more disappointed because it made me lose all hope in getting into Princeton than because I actually can’t go to Midd. I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to afford it, anyway. Still, there’s a sting there. I’ll be honest, I thought I was going to get in.

If I did get into Tufts somehow I’d have to spend a lot of time deciding between the two.

Pandorahearts, I certainly wouldn’t give up hope on those other schools. LAC’s are notorious for making what seem like “random” decisions on admission. It’s because they look so closely at the individual and less at the numbers because they want that perfect fit. This applies to everyone, but you might just not have been that “fit”. You certainly can’t take it personally. Besides, at least Cornell isn’t as selective as Middlebury (and I say that as someone who attended Cornell for grad school).

I was initially really bummed by the waitlist, but then the mail came with acceptances to Bowdoin and Bates, so it doesn’t look like I’ll be staying onboard.

this is my third waitlist so far…only been rejected by one school (so far…) but honestly this waitlist crap is even more annoying
