Waiting List

Hello.
I applied to the Faculty of Arts and I have been placed on the waiting list.

Does anyone know the acceptance rate of those placed on the waiting list at McGill (particularly at the Faculty of the Arts)? I have tried researching not only on the McGill website but online and I have found little to no information about McGill's waiting list. Any information provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

does it say decision pending or does it actually say waiting list?

No, my status changed from "reviewed-decision pending" to the waiting list status. When it changed, from "reviewed-decision pending" to the waiting list status, I had to click and choose whether I wanted to decline or accept the option of being placed on the waiting list. I accepted and now, my application status on minerva reads "Decision: Name Confirmed on Waiting List."

well, from what I have read in previous threads, u still have a chance of getting in. Basically, when people reject their offers or withdraw applications, the adcoms start admitting the people that are on the waiting list...

by the way what were ur stats?

College21,

I had a friend who was in the same situation as you were in a couple of years ago. If you do this then you have a GREAT shot at being admitted:

Send them an e mail updating them on ANY academic, athletic, or extracurricular achievements. Also, tell them that you are prepared to send them anything (rec. letters, essays, etc.) to show them that you will be an asset to a campus that is already full of smart kids and a great social life. Finally, if McGill is your #1, then say this plain and clear in you e mail: If I am accepted, I WILL come here...they want your money.

This is exactly what my friend did and, in 2-3 weeks, he was informed of his acceptance. Good Luck! Hope it works for you!

Thank you, I really appreciate everyone's responses!

an2008, when I applied to McGill, I did not send anything in with the acception of my transcript and SAT scores. Did your friend originally send in his resume and supplemental materials? Is it a good idea to send in my full resume and supplemental articles to McGill through the mail? Or should I stick with the email as you directed?

I have the same question has rohan115, what were your stats?

I'm still decisioin pending for Arts (almost a month now!!!) and I'm scared that I'll be waitlisted too...

I go to a fairly decent public school in the states.

GPA: 92.7 uw
95 w

SAT -1280/1600 1950/2400
SAT II - 600 (Math Level 1), 650 (US History), 730 (Literature)

Hey i got on the waiting list too.... i'm so upset...it's my number one.... :(

GPA 3.75 W, about 3.6 uw
ACT: 31

should we send sports and ECs and stuff? they don't ask for that on their application. and i was looking at people accepted into the arts on the 2008 acceptance and their scores are lower than mine... what's up with that?

how do they determine who has priority from the waiting list.
