waiting list

If I'm #8 on the waiting list for a humanities lecture (#1 for the discussion), and there's something like 115 or so spaces in the class, do I have a good chance of getting in? Just wondering so I don't waste 5 weeks hanging around being a groupie... :)

Thanks.

You'll be fine. A general rule of thumb I use is, if your waiting list number is less than 10% of the total number of people enrolled, you typically won't have anything to worry about.

Do you think that 10% rule still holds true for a small class?
I am #4 in a class of 40.

I was number three in a math discussion (25 people)

I was number three....and I already got in
I felt really good

It's not a tried and true rule, of course, but 10% generally is a good indicator. For smaller classes (ie Jeevis), even if you don't get straight in through Tele-Bears, the professor is usually more than willing to let you in, especially if you're close to the top on the waitlist.
