My daughter is on the waitlist for MT at Syracuse. Right now she is enrolled at UNH for a BA in MT and Dance. However Syracuse has always been her top choice from day one when we began this process. We have not heard from them as of yet, and she is still in the "waiting" mode. I personally would like some finality because I would love to see her let go and move in one direction or another. It feels very unsettling as a parent. Has anyone on the MT waitlist heard from Syracuse one way or another and how long does one "wait"?

Last year, letters were eventually sent out to those that didn't ever get off the wait list saying that they had completed the class selections - so there was an end to the 'wait mode' as you say - but the letters came very late (June or July from my memory). Getting off the wait list, I am guessing, could happen at any time before then - when someone else offered a wait list spot turns it down. You could call re-expressing your d's interest and get a feeling for when their selection process might be completed.

I think a few people posted recently, maybe on the acceptance thread, that they heard they had gotten off of the Syracuse waiting list. I doubt this means that it is final, though.

You just never know with the wait lists. My daughter was called off the waitlist at FSU. It's interesting. As you know, when one person doesn't accept at a school, then someone might be called off the waitlist (and that person might have already sent in the deposit, etc. for another school) and they change their mind to go to the waitlisted school.... well, now there suddenly becomes another opening at the initial school that no one expected. Since people are changing their minds and lists are being finalized, I'd say.... keep the hope alive. I know it's hard but.... you just never know. Good luck! (I hope I made some sense here that you can follow?)

definitely contact them. they are very friendly and could give you a good sense of whats going on. i know someone who was acceped maybe a week or so ago off the waitlist so the letters should be coming around.

My D was accepted off the wait and told they have until the 21 to respond. It a tough time of year to visit with finals and AP exams. The other student we know who was accepted visited and has accepted(she too was on the waitlist). I do not know how many they asked off the list..I simply know of 3 girls who were called. Good luck! The girl who accepted is quite excited given that it was the BESt offer she got! I think she will love it there and be a perfect fit! I wish you the best and know how hard it is to wait..you never know..Syracuse made one persons dream come true you might be next!!

Have your DAUGHTER call the school and let them know that she is really interested and is hoping to be taken from the wait list. I used to work in a college co-op office and I can't tell you how many mothers called (usually for their sons!) and we never gave those calls the attention that we did those that came from the student him/her self! She could send a letter and then follow up 5 days later with a phone call- anything to keep her name and face in their minds.
Good luck and please let us know.
