Waiting on a test score for rolling admissions

I’m applying to Michigan State University and I know they do rolling admissions so I was going to apply as soon as possible. However I’m taking another SAT on October 1st. My current SAT is exactly that of the schools average but I never prepared for the test so I wanted to actually prepare and get a much better score to increase my chances. If I do this will MSU wait for that test score or will they only wait if they thought that my current SAT score wasn’t good enough? Thanks!

Another option is taking the ACT on Sept 10. The regular registration for Sept test is 7 Aug. After that there is a late fee from 8-19 Aug. You could take a chance and send the scores straight to MSU to save time. If you wait until you can view your scores (takes about 2 weeks, not counting writing score), it will take longer for MSU to get your scores.
MSU website says middle 50% 23-28.

According to their website they make an admissions decision 8-12 weeks after ALL materials are received. I guess what you really want to know is … will waiting until a SAT test score is available (later in Oct) nullify your chances when the application period opens mid August (& they highly encourage applications be submitted by 1 Nov)? That I don’t know. You might want to contact a MSU admissions counselor. I think a lot would depend on what you want to major in, how competitive the major is, & if any spots are still available.
