Waiting on Notification?

Hey guys,

Is there anyone out there who applied to SB and is still waiting to receive notification on whether they've been accepted or not?

I still haven't received notification from SB and I submitted everything in sometime in mid- late December/early January.

So, is anyone in the same situation as I am?

You’re not alone.

I highly suggest you call them at this point, given that it’s April 10! It is NOT considerate of them to alert you of a decision much beyond this point, given that most schools require a decision by May 1.

When I went there today, I mean, hopefully they weren’t just blowing smoke, they told me they had something like 30,000 applicants and that I just need to be patient. Unfortunate, but I guess thats the way it is.

I just wish someone in my family went to college, because I’m learning alot of “common sense” things about colleges that I had no clue about. Probably why I’m in the situation that I am in.

Thanks for the suggestion markopolo. I called their admissions office a few weeks ago, to check on the status of my application cuz I wanted to know whether they had everything that’s needed to review an application but the lady that I spoke to was rude and wouldn’t give me any information. I didn’t ask her whether I was accepted or not. I just asked her about the status of my application. I haven’t called them since them. I’ll probably call them on Monday or something.

Too bad their website is no help when it comes to checking your status either.

JimmyME…when did you apply to SB? If you don’t mind me asking

I don’t mind at all, I applied in october 08, for the fall 09 semester. I had sent my most recent transcripts about 2 weeks after application as per the admissions advisor. I had 38 credits at that time, more than the required 24 credits, so I didn’t send HS transcripts.

I didn’t know I was supposed to resend my transcripts when I got my fall 08 grades, and I was alerted of this ignorance only on april 1st and I didn’t get my transcripts there till the next day.

I like you dealt with a rude lady on the phone back in early-march, who knows, maybe if she had just typed in a few things and told me I was supposed to resend my transcripts I wouldnt be in this mess, but thats past now, I’m really not that upset over it.

If you don’t mind my asking, does your solar say whether or not your application is complete? The guy I talked to today said that as soon as the applications are completed they get read that day and a decision made.

JimmyME…I submitted my SUNY application along with my HS transcript, reccomendation letters and other needed materials in December before the holidays. I submitted my supplemental application in sometime the first or second week of January and I STILL haven’t been notified of anything.
When I last called SB I was hoping, I’d be able to figure out if they had everything that was needed to review my application or if anything was missing but like I mentioned in my previous post, the lady I spoke to was of no help whatsoever. It’s now April and I have no idea what’s going with SB and my application.
As for your question…my solar doesn’t say anything at all about whether my application is complete or not, so like I mentioned before I’ve got no idea what’s going on with my application.
Right now, I feel like I awarded SB with 40 bucks for no reason. I feel like I’m not getting my money’s worth.

At this point, if you haven’t heard anything – freshman or transfer – call us, and ask to speak with a counselor. You’ll get through to someone. Keep in mind that it’s likely to be crazy this week with schools being out; we’re anticipating a large number of visitors, but you can get an answer.

When you applied – especially at this point – is really irrelevant. I see that question bandied about a lot here, and it really doesn’t matter. We don’t read the applications in any particular order; we read them when they’re complete. If you haven’t heard anything at all, then one of two things happened:

(a) We’re still missing something.
(b) We sent you notification and you haven’t gotten it yet. Either it was sent recently, like within the last week, or it somehow never made it to your house.

Either way, CALL. Ask for a counselor.

Chris

Thanks for the reply Chris.
I’ll make sure to call the Undergrad admissions office and ask to speak to an admissions counselor sometime this week.
