Hi to all those who are waiting on Harvard’s SCEA - six weeks of silence and stress!
In the meantime, what other colleges are you all applying to?
I applied USF (safety?), UF, UNC, and UMich, prepping to apply UC-Berkeley and possible UCSD.
RD - All depends on Harvard’s decision, but am planning to get my apps ready for Stanford, Duke, JHU, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, UChicago, Brown (HPME), and Northwestern. Need to get some more safety schools on my list!
Hey I played EA too, but was checking my Application Status and under “Application Checklist”, I only see SAT or ACT Official Test Scores listed once. I submitted 3 of these scores to Harvard, so am I supposed to see this message three times, or only once (like it currently is)? I’m scared Harvard is missing my two most recent scores (which are 10x better).
@gsw1999 - I am not an expert at this, but personally, I would not fret as long as you have confirmation from SAT / ACT that all requested scores have been sent. FYI - Harvard lets you use score choice. Harvard also apparently superscores SAT, but does not superscore ACT.
Just to make you feel comfortable, even if you submitted 2 teacher and 2 other recommendations, your portal will only show teacher recommendations as received. Probably the same with SAT / ACT scores - showing just 1 received vs multiple received.
Anyways, if it will make you feel better, call the admissions office or send an email via status portal.
Oh, thanks! I feel better now because my first SAT score was terrible (2100) and I would probably have 0 shot at harvard if they only looked at that score. Did you already complete the CSS profile?
Yes - CSS done this morning. Received IDOC today and uploaded documents there as well. I actually just noticed that yesterday was the due date for CSS, so I emailed financial aid office. They promptly replied saying financial aid deadlines are flexible and that one day late will not cause any delays. Not expecting any significant aid, but even if we get something - its better than nothing.
@gsw1999 - what other colleges are you applying to?
University of Minnesota (applied) , University of Michigan, Yale, Columbia/UChicago/UPenn (although I don’t know if I’d do well in the city), Stanford, WashU, possibly some schools in Colorado.
@MedSciBud yeah, but I just honestly wasn’t in love with it when I visited. Brown, on the contrary, was love at first sight. Plus, Harvard doesn’t really have the majors I want nor is it focused on undergraduate education – unlike Brown. Harvard’s a serious option for graduate school, though.
