From everything I’ve read, I wouldn’t trust PPU further than I could throw them.

Yes, while some accepted students were denied being able to make their deposits because “the class was full” and thus placed on a “wait list”, PPU continued to audition for the fall class. One student even declined two other solid offers to go to PPU only to be told the spots filled up and that they would have to wait for one to open up. How stinky is that?

It was painful watching that happen to several forum members last year. I’d recommend, if your son has any interest in PPU, sending in the deposit now. (You may even be able to get a refund if he decides not to attend.)

Thank you all so much. I do recall the acceptance issue, thank you skewlcounselor.

prodesse, my son did not audition for Ithica.

vivalaben, I had my son check his account and he said nothing had changed.

S’s Acceptance to Marymount Manhattan BFA acting came today!! So happy!

Congrats to the new acceptances!! We are STILL waiting to hear from PPU. I’m going to be honest, I’ll be disappointed if that one is a no. I know all the negative about deposits and whatever, but I seriously LOVE the program, the productions, the faculty, and absolutely ADORE Pittsburgh. I don’t know if there will be enough financial aid to be able to go, but I do love the school for my D.

cjenny - congrats!!! So happy for you!

ugadog, still sending pixie dust your way…

Thanks photomom5 congrats to you too! My S auditioned for PP at NYC Unifieds and we are still waiting on that one. Hang in there everyone!

Anyone hear from Pace? D got financial aid package today along with more promo about honors college, but still no auditioned acceptance.

S got into BFA Acting at Marymount Manhattan today, too! Whew! No more wondering if he might have to take a gap year. We have six schools left to hear from, but SOOO relieved and he is SOOOO happy!

acting720…YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!

Congratulations! Wow do we know how that feels. “Yes, it’s real, it’s really happening, I’m going to college.”

As we wait wait wait, I am watching the weather as a snow storm barrels towards my daughter the day before she is supposed to come home for spring break.

Not quite the attention diversion I was looking for… :(

Since we are waiting, how does your daughter come and go from school, photomom? Does she drive? That’s one issue I’m trying to figure out.

The first year, we were SO lucky that we had family at the school so Amy caught rides back and forth with her. This year, Amy took her car up. For the week long breaks, she takes a plane or, as in this case, the train. I am thinking that either my husband or myself will fly up at the end of the year and help her move out and drive home with her. We also got a storage unit and store all the items that she did not need over the summer. That was a huge space saver, and we were ruthless as I did not want to move and then move again…and we still brought too much stuff home! This year I think she is getting an off campus apartment, so depending on when the lease begins, we may store her stuff there instead.

Mom2gals I just wanted to thank you for making me laugh out loud this morning. You described my current experience perfectly. It’s good to know there are other parents out there that stare at those envelopes. My husband is awful and will just rip them open. I have to hide them from him!

So, since reading these posts I assumed thin envelopes were bad news and when a very thin envelope came from Marymount Manhattan yesterday, I stressed. It was actually, of course, the news that he had been accepted into the BFA Acting program. I almost passed out because I had been staring at the thin envelope for three hours waiting for him to get home!

I have mentioned it before but the Hartt acceptances are also sent in small envelopes so don’t give up hope with small envelopes!

Point Park also in small envelopes, though moderately thick (whatever that means).

Heck, don’t you know what to do with a thin envelope and a bright flashlight?
