The applications are complete, interveiws are finished, and now we wait for the class of 2011. Nominations should be known by Christmas, and Appointments in March. I know they call the winter months the Dark Ages, but this truly will be the longest winter.

Your child has done everything possible to gain an appointment. If you obsess over it now, the entire senior year will be a blur and your child will not experience the joy of the last year of high school.

Some appointments do not get sent until April, and while the wait is always in the back of your mind, enjoy the last two sports seasons, the musical and concerts, and other activities. These memories will help when your child is gone enduring plebe summer, or life in NROTC, or "regular life" in a civilian school. Do not waste the last few months focusing on the mail, enjoy today. Your child will never again be who they are today, no matter what the future holds.
Good Luck

Welcome to life in the Military: "Hurry up and wait!" ;)

Hang tight, and good luck! :)

ds....waiting can be the hardest part. Take candidate mom's advice- make the most of what is left of senior year- it will be over before you know it!

candidatemom,

Unfortunately I don't get here as often as I used to. (Some may think it's fortunate though.) And I usually just get a few minutes so don't have time to look at each sa board. It's good to see you here. You, along with shogun, aspen, and juniormom were among the cc parents who helped me when I first arrived here wondering about the dark days myself. And I was so proud to let you know about the appointment that arrived nearly 2 years ago. (At the time, I never thought I'd still be here talking about the college kids with the same group. I think they call it Bill Syndrome.)

ds52262,

candidatemom is correct. Enjoy this time. And let the folks here on cc help you out. And zaphod is also correct. Get used to the waiting. Even as parents, we slowly discover that it's normal. We wait for letters, phone calls, grades, roommate decisions, doctor reports, APFT results, and dates/times they will be released so that we can actually order airline tickets.

Good luck to your family.
