Waiting

My son has received his nomination for USNA he has completed everything. We have heard from USMA that he is on the National Waiting List. Any idea when we could hear anything from USNA??? Should he call USNA Admissions???

I am in the same boat. I have finished my application to Naval Academy, but have not heard anything. I have received a letter from USMA putting me on the national waiting list. Any info. or insight on when I should hear back from USNA or any proactive actions that I should take will be appreciated.

Just wait — it’s getting to that time… No news is not good nor bad right now. USMA has been getting things out earlier it seems. Your son can always call his BGO and see if there are any more questions about his application that he can clarify. Maybe he did phenomenally well in a winter sport and wants that known, just received a major award, etc. But - I would say - it’s just time to wait.

Can the BGO provide a status update on where the application is? My son is 3 Qd and invited to a CVW, but wondering how he is stacking against the other candidates nominated by his MOC. The MOC that nominated him is no longer in office so doubt they can provide any info. Does anyone know when they normally are finished with sending out acceptances? (he has already heard from all the other colleges he applied to)

I believe that most acceptances go out before April, but a few can go out later than that.

The BGO is not going to necessarily know at all how your son is “stacking up” against the other candidates. It depends upon the Academy’s thought process right then (is there a piece of the puzzle they may need more information about?), the candidate and the BGO. Acceptances can technically keep going out right up through I-Day but are “typically” out before April. However - one thing I’ve learned is the hurry up and wait process will always happen and things may be typical but it doesn’t mean much because there are always changes and additions. Just keep waiting…

My son is in the same boat. Are you from NJ simse01? That’s where we are from.

No, from NC. And from one of the districts that are under-represented, whatever that means… I guess we just have to be patient. :-)
