waitisted by syracuse... what should I do?

On Wednesday I received an email from admissions informing me that I've been been waitlisted for the Retail Management program within The Whitman School of Management. I originally applied for the Dual Enrollment Program for Retail Management (Whitman) and Graphic Design (Newhouse). My second choice was Entrepreneurship (Whitman).

This news was not only disappointing, but disheartening considering that fact that Syracuse is my top choice. Yesterday I decided to send them an email expressing my feelings and my continued interest in attending. At this point, I'm really upset, because I understand that the chances of being admitted from the waitlist is very slim.

Considering the fact that many of my friends with similar stats were admitted into Syracuse in the first two waves, gave me hope that I had a fair shot too. At the same time, I understand that admissions into to certain colleges within Syracuse are more competitive than others. Although I have not been rejected from Syracuse, it truly feels like I have.

The only thing I can think of doing now is sending in additional information to backup and support my application. Since I'm applying for a business major, I feel that it would be in my best interest to do the following:

Send in a letter of recommendation from my economics teacher (I currently have a 99 in her class)

Send in a letter of recommendation from my business communications professor (its a college class and I currently have an A)

Send a copy of my transcript from my previous college course which was introduction to business (I got a B+).

I have also considered getting a letter of recommendation from another teacher of mine who is an alumni of Syracuse. Any other ideas of what I should/can do? Here's a basic idea of my stats:

GPA: 3.8 (unweighted)
SAT: 1680 (the weakest part of my application)
ECs: plenty of leadership roles, activities, etc.

I've gotten into many other great schools so if things don't work out I always have other choices.

First find out whether Syracuse is willing to accept this material. Most colleges are, but some will not.

Next – when you expressed interest, what did you say. If you haven’t doe so already, let them know that Syracuse is your first choice, and that you will attend if admitted. If you don’t need financial aid, let them know this too.

I’ll give Syracuse a call on Monday and find out if they accept additional materials.

In my email I explained to that Syracuse was my top choice and that I would even be willing to pursue another major within Whitman if there were any open spaces.

^^i would also let them know that a dual option would work as well…I.e. arts and sci/Whitman dual…ya never know…

^^^ I wouldn’t mind that actually, because I can always try to transfer into Newhouse at a later time.
