I wonder if some schools might actually utilize the waitlist…A&S or Human Ecology by chance? If Cornell does call up a few students, which colleges do you think will be more likely to use the WL?

It’s hard to tell. Early indications were that Hotel might …and that came from a very reliable source.

from what i’ve heard recently, cornell probably won’t be going to its waitlist at all/: they usually don’t go to their waitlist, which kinda sucks

So forgive me if I’m being na

Well as I said, when I called up the College of Engineering, I was told that it was unlikely that they would use their waitlist.

Incidentally, are there people who have been rejected of the waitlist already? When?

Though I don’t know how tanban says that “they usually don’t go to their waitlist”; they admitted 0 last year, but 44 and 279 in two the years before that.

i called the college of humec and they said they don’t usually use their waitlist nor does it look like they will be going to their waitlist, so that’s the source of my information, but also, here’s an article from the daily penn and if you click on the graph you can see that the yield rate for this year’s entering class is just about that of last year’s class, so just making a guess if last year took no one, this year may not take anyone ([Yield for class of 2014 remains steady | The Daily Pennsylvanian](http://thedp.com/article/yield-class-2014-remains-steady)) However, there is a bit of optimism: [Yield Rates for Class of 2014 Cornell Insider](http://cornellinsider.com/2010/05/13/yield-rates-for-class-of-2014/)

I don’t know if this will make those waiting feel any better or not, but my daughter was waitlisted last year at Cornell, and while they never went to the list she was eventually offered a guaranteed transfer for the fall of her sophomore year. She is at the University of Michigan and very happy in biomedical engineering so she didn’t take the option, but if you are in love with Cornell there is still hope

Jhill, was she offered guaranteed transfer when she was waitlisted? Did it say on the decision letter that was sent on April 1st? Or did she get a call/email/mail saying she was given a guaranteed transfer?

Thanks

@jhill

Was it College of Engineering she waitlisted for? Did she received GT notification after they decided not to use the waitlist? Thanks for the information you provided.

So I was waitlisted at CAS and I feel like I’ve been waiting forever to hear from Cornell. Is the fact that NO ONE has heard anything basically a sign that they aren’t taking anyone this year?

isn’t it common courtesy for them to indicate to us that the process has ended?

yeah I think they’re supposed to send us a letter rejecting us, but I still haven’t gotten mine…oh well, I guess its just a matter of waiting for it to come in the mail then

But the thing is, “Nitro Hawk” said this on 05-22-2010, 01:34 PM:

Got a letter (snail mail) from Engineering formally rejecting me.

^Must mean that at least one person has been rejected.

Is it stupid to still be hopeful? :/

I got a GT and have been waitlisted,

I heard that Cornell should be telling people about the waitlist at like the end of the week,
at least for a certain school

Cross your fingers guys!

Which school?

if you wouldn’t mind telling us, which college did you apply to?

Ahavah, Did you get a GT this year or last year?

What is 'GT" means?

@Lucky1111: GT means guaranteed transfer. Instead of accepting someone, sometimes they give that person a GT so he or she can start their sophomore year at Cornell. Not everyone goes through with it but, if you’re in love with Cornell, it’s a pretty cool situation.
