The May 1st deadline for RD acceptances is tomorrow, which means soon well be finding out if we got off the waitlist! So heres a thread where all of our fellow waitlistees can discuss, worry, or just generally vent! :)

I was waitlisted from The College as an undecided major, but my ECs are focused in music. Since I found out about my decision I've sent admissions an email and Im thinking of sending a letter along with updated grades. Good luck everyone!

i still kind of wonder how the numbers are with each of the individual colleges… specifically wharton (in my case)… but whatever, it doesn’t matter nearly as much as it did on apr 1 anymore.

^ Another Penn Stater (Schreyer Scholar) here.

Out of curiosity, to those who have sent updated materials to the eapps e-mail address, did anyone get a reply? I received a reply from the Cornell office the day after I sent everything but Penn hasn’t replied. :/

Schreyer rejected me for no apparent reason but Im roomin in south and hopefully gonna get the honors living option anyway, and if I dont get off the waitlist, Im gonna apply gateway in the spring! I sent an email to my regional coordinator and shes always been great about replying.

Aw I’m sorry - a really brilliant friend of mine was rejected from Schreyer too. And last year someone at my school got into Penn but not Schreyer. But yeah, gateway is always a possibility. :)

Ah, I think that was Stupefy’s advice too…guess I’ll contact my regional coordinator tomorrow. :)

haha thanks Yeah my one friend in Schreyer said one of her friends got into MIT but not schreyer…theyre just weird about admissions I guess, especially since its suc a small freshman class size

Hey guys just wanted to bump this up so anyone who’s contacted or heard from the admission office at Penn can update us about whether there’s any movement in the waitlist this year. Fingers crossed everyone :)

I know someone who was waitlisted at UPenn last year and emailed their regional coordinator about how much he loved the school, felt at home there, etc… She called personally to thank him and then again in mid-late May to let him know he was accepted.
I emailed my regional representative for Penn (different than his) this year and never heard back, so I guess it depends.

Also, I know several people who have turned down Penn so hopefully they’ll be going to their waitlists? there are 3000 people on it, though. (That may have been mentioned earlier.)

I sent a similar email to my regional coordinator and I got a personal email back “commeding me for my positive outlook and thanking me for my continued interest in Penn”. But she has always been great about returning emails so I guess it just runs on a officer to officer basis. (Although I wouldnt mind seeing it as an indication theyre considering me :P)

I really hope I they take alot off the waitlist this year. I know this year was supposed to be the most competitive for yeilds colleges ahve ever experienced with many elite-caliber students applying to multiple ivys (just look at the applcation spikes). One thing that has been giving me hope is the number of members in the CAS 2014 facebook group. Here are the numbers:

UPenn CAS 2011: 573 members
UPenn CAS 2012: 695 members
UPenn CAS 2013: 894 members
UPenn College Class of 2014 (so far): 684 members

The way im looking at this is that there has been a steady increase of students in the groups as Facebook gained popularity over the years. However, this year, the Class of 2014 is still 210 members short of last year’s total! (Of course evven at the peak of popularity, only about half the CAS class joined the group) Im just hoping Penn overestimated their yeild and that they will be taking more people off the waitlist this year! I guess time will tell :P

haha yea, I’d like not to think that she didn’t reply because I just wasn’t a serious contender for admission, but more power to ya for hearing back. :)

I completely agree with the facebook group numbers; that’s promising.

Also, do you (or anyone here?..) think it’s too late to send 3rd quarter grades and things to them?

I guess because they need more time to sort through everything?

Well, it’s not too promising that the Wharton Class of 2014 group on FB has 481 members. I’m sure there are several who are attending but haven’t joined, so that means there are very few spots in the ~500 people class. Oh well, I did my best. :)

That does suck… but I gotta say it doesnt surprise me too much. I mean, Im sure plenty of people are turning down CAS to go to Harvard/Pinceton blah blah blah, plus depending on your major there could be other schools more adventageous to you, but if ya know youre goin into undergrad business there isnt much better than Wharton. good luck though! It just sucks that UPenn cant take all the qualified applicants…

Wharton’s website says they want a class size of 530. Let’s just hope that a lot of Penn staff joined the group and that a lot of people currently in that group are waitlisted for and will go to HYP if they are accepted.

Strange enough, it seems that in one day the Wharton group size has now increased to 488 members. There isn’t a Wharton 2013 group (or at least one that’s visible), hmm. I never saw the number 530 specifically but that makes me feel a little bit better. Good luck to all of you. :D
