Waitlist 2014 Discussion

^oh mi godddd

Just talked to admissions, they claim that NO ONE has been taken from the waitlist yet and that decisions will be coming out in june. The woman i spoke with also reassured me that THERE WILL BE movement from the waitlist. Let us pray.

Thanks for the update, Shaymaster!
My fingers are crossed…
In the meantime, I seriously need to preoccupy myself with something else… haha.

I just wish the admissions offficers had one standard message to give instead of all these mixed signals and speculation :stuck_out_tongue: But its good to know that they are gonna be taking from the waitlist soon. I was gettin paranoid that they already took the first group and that I missed that cut haha

Maybe its different for every region because my regional admissions officer contacted ME. I did not call and ask anyone any questions about the waitlist. All I did was send additional materials and she, yesterday, confirmed receiving them and said “at this point in time we have slowly began to utilize our waitlist, and will get in contact with students directly about their status”. Those were EXACT words. Shaymaster did you talk to an admission officer or just a student/receptionist who works at the main desk and picked up the phone?

^What is your region doyinder?

Quite disheartened to see the students on Harvard’s WL and committed to Penn get rejected from the WL :(

Right now im just trying to reassure myself that no news is good news…

It probably depends on your region for the waitlist possibly…the waitlist has moved…

New Jersey (Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Somerset Counties), New York (Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island)… I live in Brooklyn, New York

I wouldnt be surprised that had began their first wave of acceptances (assuming there’s more than 1 wave…) and nothing much on it on CC since the DP article said they only expect to take 10 - 15 off the list this week. I’m intl and have heard nothing from my regional admissions officer so yea :(

who’s the regional officer for intl pearling?

jiejingz, all admissions officers and their regions are listed on this page:

[Penn Admissions: Contact Us](Contact Us | Penn Admissions)

Thanks 45~! But i guess its too late to call now, so i’ll just wait.

i wish we just knew one way or another already…

i wish we knew too… but someone posted up the stats a few pages ago and there are 2,413 who are enrolled at upenn. if they are only looking for a class size of 2400/2500 then there are very few spots. out of the 1800 people on the waiting list only about 70 will be accepted no? i’m waitlisted at the college of arts and science.

any updates/acceptances yet? I find it kinda hard to believe that Penn is waiting for other schools to take all the best waiting students and take the leftovers :P

^I agree. Penn’s the only one out of the ivies to not have any correspondence with waitlisted students about their application status.

HYPC had their first major waves in mid may. In the last 2 days, Dartmouth and Brown contacted students telling them their class of 2014 is fully subscribed. Someone on cornell’s thread said they were rejected so Cornell has made some WL decisions. And Penn has told us…nothing :frowning: I’m thinking Penn is prettty much fully subscribed if they arent in any rush to take anyone…

^That’s not true at all, pearling. Brown doesn’t update waitlisted students either (trust me, I know…I was one of them last year). The only time Brown updates students is when they are writing to let you know whether you are accepted or not. Penn is a bigger school than Brown so it’s probably taking them a little while longer–plus, movement on the waitlist can happen (depending on the school) up until the week before orientation! (I’ve heard of people at various colleges being contacted then. For the most part, however, schools will inform waitlisted students by July.) Just hold tight; the waitlist is not for the weak-hearted.

I agree… Even if we do not hear in the next month or so, it doesn’t mean we’re absolutely rejected. When I visited Penn, I met a girl whose roommate had been accepted off the waitlist 3 days after classes already started!

those stories are very encouraging! thanks! Im just mentally preparing myself to go to PSU this fall though… gonna audition for the Blue Band! Ill be happy at either place, but needless to say, UPenns on a totally different plane academically lol

I don’t post on here often but I thought I’d let you guys know that I just got accepted off the waitlist to the college 15 minutes ago by email.
