My daughter's waitlisted this year. I saw a discussion thread from a few years ago where folks sent updates (i.e. "Haven't heard anything yet," or "My friend heard from them yesterday." That kind of thing.

I didn't see that anyone had started a thread for this year, so here it is.

Anyone hear anything?

PS Please put the date on your post. CC just puts "early May" or something like that.

D is waitlisted at four school. We have not heard yet. She was rejected from six other schools that she really wanted to go to. Thinking of a gap year.

Similar story here. H got 6 rejections, 2 waitlists. Her college advisor is shocked. Sounds like this year has been really whacky. We’ve put a deposit down at Hampshire. Her heart’s not really there, but if Vassar doesn’t come through, she’ll try to embrace it. (Gap year wouldn’t work for us.) FYI other people have replied with more info at a different thread - “Vassar Waitlist 2014” if you want to check it out.

What is the cons of a gap year in your view? I am curious. We are still very shocked and extremely curious as to how our D had such bad luck

She’s been looking forward to leaving for college her whole life. To stay home while all her friends go off to school would just be too hard. I should have added earlier that she did get accepted to her “safety” schools, though none of them really appeal to her. Let us know if you hear anything.

I totally understand! My D is not 18 until the coming fall and she has been taking about a gap year throughout high school. I think she would be very happy spending a year experiencing something different than school. Good luck with the waitlist I hope she gets in.

So it’s Monday 5/12, 5:45 PM. Anybody hear anything today?
