Waitlist acceptances

For those of you recently accepted from a waitlist, did you recieve the traditional “big” envelope with your housing, financial aid etc info, or just a letter indicating that you had been offered admission and to respond in order to accept. D recieved the “thin” envelope from UConn today. I didn’t want to open her mail, but I am wondering if the thin envelope is a bad indication.

The thin envelope may be a letter saying they have closed the waitlist; acceptances off the WL often come by phone. You would not get a big envelope I think unless you had already accepted an offer off the WL (my D got in to a school off the WL last year--notified by phone call from one of the assistant deans of admission--but chose not to attend so did not get a packet from the school). Two other schools whose lists she had remained on sent "thin envelopes" in late June saying WL had closed.
