There are waiting lists for every colleges and therefore you can check from them that you are on which rank amongst them by which atleast you can get the idea or you can determine the percentage of chances for being selected.

Different colleges handle waitlists in different manners. I would do a little research into each college. Do they allow profile updates? Do they allow additional recommendations? Is the waiting list pre-ranked or do they review every applicant again when processing the waiting list?

I would send a profile update, new information, more grades, recommendations, etc…

With multiple colleges it is more difficult, but colleges want to know that if they accept you from the waitlist you are going to attend. In my son’s case we have specifically told the college if accepted he is attending. We have stressed that the college is his # 1 choice. We have been told this helps significantly. We informed the college of where he is submitting his deposit while he waits so that they are aware that he is only submitting 1 deposit and where. We have been told that it helps a lot if the place you are submitting a deposit is not considered a “competitive” school with the waitlist school. We were told if it is competitive the college may take the attitude that if you would consider going to a competitive school maybe you would be better off there instead of with them.

All if hearsay and opinion. I will update everyone on if any of it works in helping get our son off of the wait list at what is his # 1 choice.
