Hello all - My D has been waitlisted at her top school and with it being her top choice, doesn’t want to seem like she is in any way shape or form lacking interest. How much is TOO much when it comes to communication? Who are the right people to talk to? She’s sent in a letter expressing her interest and saying it’s her top choice and she’s called to check up on it. Would a typed letter to the head of the department be necessary? What do we do? She’s been rejected everywhere except for this school, and it’s incredibly competitive so I’m not sure where she stands on the waitlist. It is also unranked, so I am not sure whether a boy or girl saying no means they open it up for both genders. Please help!! Thanks so much!
We were told ONE letter. No calls. And only to send material that substantially strengthens your application in an objective way: higher test scores, new grade reports, academic awards etc. It can help if your guidance counsellor or dean calls and brings to their attention any relevant factors that they may have overlooked.
@mtmajor16 University of Michigan has already notified applicants that they have been wait-listed? I thought they don’t do that until the last notification batch.
@brantly I think she’s in the musical theatre major–it’s a separate process and they are on a different timeline.
Ah, OK. Didn’t notice that.
