Waitlist = almost rejection?

Wow, Thank you for your advice Janera! and, jamapelle, that SML just sounds horrible. ): Yes, I did send my deposit yesterday to a college that accepted me. I was like, “this is it…!” Anyways, this thread has been so helpful! At least Winter’s over and Summer’s just about the corner. I was getting depressed, but I think we should all forget about it after we tried everything, (like Janera said) and enjoy what we are doing right now. (: Good luck to everyone!

hey sophiee i hope you keep us updated , fingers crossed all!

My D is declining MoHo…I hope it helps one of you!!! Good luck!

I just declined Mount Holyoke in favor of Bryn Mawr after a tough month of going back and forth. That should get a spot open…good luck!

aw thank you for your well wishes, i’m hoping to hear good news! englishivy i am sure it was a tough decision to make

it was pure agony! but i’m really happy with my decision
good luck ladies! maybe i’ll see you at some seven sisters events!

hey guys… im an intl student and have been waitlisted at MHC…will you guys be telling hare if youre accepted??

hey Areej I am an international student as well waiting on good news. I sure will post here if I get accepted, and hope you guys would too

good luck

guys any idea how MHC will inform us?

Argh!! i think im going to go crazy anticipating!
Jamapelle where are you from?

hi Areej, yes i am pretty anxious about it too. but I don’t think they’ll notify us that early, maybe in a couple of days or weeks even. judging from last year, they made calls regarding acceptance from waitlist, for some, they were notified through email. seeing we are international, they might choose to email us instead. have you sent in your reply form?

btw i am from singapore  what about you?

One of the AOs told me yesterday:
“…at this point, it is unlikely that we will be able to take any students from the waitlist. You should have an alternate plan so you don’t miss out on another opportunity.”

I am not sure if this means MHC will not take anyone off the waitlist this year…
Oh…my heart is broken…T-T

1328, in my opinion, (or much needed positive thinking), I guess it is too early to tell whether they’d be spaces for names to be pulled off from the waiting list. I sure hope we’d get a clearer picture by the end of next week or so, or a lot of our hearts would be broken too :(:frowning:

btw, did you call or email?

Jamapelle, I e-mailed them, asking if my 3rd quarter trancript has arrived. Their response is that they’ve already had everything they need, and unable to pull off any girls from the waiting list at this momet…

Knowing that WUSTL and some other schools have started admitting students from the waiting lists, I become so anxious about the decision from Moho!

:(:frowning: gosh this looks bleak. i was REALLY pining my hopes on this one even though we’re supposed to move on etc etc

Hey guys, i also got waitlisted and it’s been a long and complicated road. i am an international student so i am counting on MoHo cos i know they can give me full financial aid unlike a lot of other schools.here in africa, it’s rare to find someone with access to 40+ grand each year for the next 4 yrs! i hope they do take people of the waitlist, even if it’s only 2 or so. it would be unfair to waitlist hundreds of people and then not accept a single one of them…

Because Mount Holyoke is not need-blind, they are more likely to take students with less need off of the wait-list. Often, what schools will do, is only take domestic students with little to no need off of wait-lists. They need an adequate representation of American students in their first-year class; they can’t rely too heavily on students from abroad, given that it’s an American school.

yea that;s what i thought… alot of internationals on the wait list this year. tough competition :(

this year is super super super tough for internationals… after getting almost too many rejections and surprises, i kinda know the system too well now… luckily mount holyoke accepted both me and my twin… but iam going to colgate, turning down oberlin and mhc… so u waitlistees will have a chance…

where are you going instead, mytra?
