Waitlist and FA

I just found out I was waitlisted at my top choice, Grinnell. This is really fustrating for me and I have some questions.

1) How is Financial Aid for waitlistees? If accepted can I still get a good package? If I need more is there any way to bargain for it if its not good enough and I'm accepted?

2) What are ways to improve my chance on the waitlist? Sending letters/emails/calling? Would any of those help if I explain my interest?

3) Would a call from my guidance counselor help if it outlined my interest in the school and maybe highlighted me more as a student?

4) Do my end of year grades count for admission now? (please say no)

5) Anything else i should know?

Questions we are asking tonight too.

D’s wait-list letter is not from Grinnell, but for what it’s worth:

Regarding financial aid: “We will do our best to fund students admitted off the waiting list. However, we are not need-blind during the waiting list process. Financial aid will be determined by availability of funds.”

Regarding improving your chances: “We encourage you to write us a letter and let us know of your continued interest in XYZ College. Please feel free to include any updated information as well, such as new grades. Additional recommendations are generally not helpful.”
