I've been accepted at my safeties (Rutgers, Wisconsin) and also Virginia and Bowdoin, two fine schools I would be happy to attend.

However, I've been waitlisted by three schools, all of which I prefer to UVa and Bowdoin: Georgetown, Northwestern, Harvard.

I read that even need-blind institutions consider money when it comes to the waitlist because at this point all of the students are nearly equally qualified and money serves as an easy tiebreaker.

Especially given the current state of the economy, do you think it would be wise for me to notify these schools that I can afford the full tuition, or would that come across as pompous and worsen my chances?
