Waitlist Anyone?

Anyone hear anything about the waitlist? Did anyone get in from the waitlist yet?

Lowermorelandmom

My daughter is still waiting to hear.....................

How is your daughter doing? Didn't I read that you were waiting on several waitlist? We still are waiting on UConn also. No word when they might be sending out notifications either. It doesn't seem like they have sent out anything though - I haven't seen any post on the boards regarding UConn waitlist acceptances.

Its horrible isnt it? She has a deposit at Penn State main campus. She really wanted to go to Univ Of Delaware, she got a letter from them today saying their waitlist is closed. There was a thing to send back if you are interested in the spring admission. I made her fill it out (you never know what could happen if say she doesnt like Penn State). I dont think that will happen though. Where is your daughter going?

It seems the admission decisions this year were so random. Guys at my daughters school, with lower class rank seemed to get in everywhere, and the females were wl. Also alot of kids seemed to get in places, by putting they were a certain ethnic backgrounds, really stretching it (great grandparents). We are still waiting for Northeastern, Muhlenberg, Dickinson and University of Maryland. But I guess it will be Penn State. Also it doesnt seem that anyone, at least on cc, has heard back from any of these schools. So I guess its still hopeful.

LML

Right now she has accepted at West Virginia. She is getting more excited about going - will be rooming with a friend from HS and has made some contacts with the gymnastics coach there. She still has her hope out for Northeastern though. It has been her first choice since this whole process started. I guess the fact that noone is posting that they got into NU yet is a good thing. Maybe admissions is really are still making decisions. I've called and they said their intention is to have all decisions postmarked by June 1 and they have not sent out anything yet.

Of course a June 1 post mark means we still might not hear until the end of next week!!!

I'm also waiting on University of Maryland but i dont think i care about that school anymore because i enrolled at NEU for the fall.

A couple months ago someone told me that boys are most likely to get into college now because there are so many girls going to college and excelling, that the balance between men and women is not balanced again. That probably explains some of the waitlists.

Has your daughter heard from Northeastern regarding the waitlist yet? I called admissions this morning and they told me that letters were sent out on Friday, although my D didn't get anything in todays mail.

No nothing yet. My daughter is still waiting on 4 waitlists. Though as time goes on, its doesnt seem too promising. Hopefully we'll get something in the mail tomorrow. Did they say how many they are accepting from the waitlist?

I didn't ask how many they took - I guess I should have. I hope my D hears something today. She is supposed to go to WVU orientation on Monday!!!

Anybody hear anything yet? Anyone have any idea how many people if any are being taken off the waitlist?

Well its Saturday and there was no mail from Northeastern again today. I called Admissions on Friday an they said everything was mailed on on Wednesday, so I thought for sure she would get something by today. Oh well, guess we are off to orientation at WVU tomorrow. I know - something will come in the mail on MONDAY, once we are already down there :-(

Did you hear anything? D got a rejection from the waitlist a few days ago. I hope your news is better. So shes definitely off to Penn State main campus in the fall!! It was a crazy ride, but I felt like I learned alot when it comes time for my son to start applying in 2 years...

I agree, it has been an interesting ride for sure!!! We left for WVU on Sunday without hearing from Northeastern. About halfway through the orientation session on Monday, D says to me "I really want to go here - it just feels right". She met alot of really nice girls from NY, PA and NJ, loved her academic advisor, the dorm, the idea of football tailgate parties, etc, etc, etc. My husband called Monday night with the news that she did not get accepted to Northeastern, and D took it better than I had expected. As much as I wanted her to hear before we left, by not hearing, I think it gave her a chance to fall in love again with WVU, not as a default school, but as a school she really saw herself fitting into.

If I had to do it all again, I think I would look more closely at the admission stats for Physical Therapy specifically. Whle alot of the schools she applied to were considered good matches, the PT gram was extremely competitive and I think she really should have applied to a few more safeties so she would have had a few more choices at the end.

All in all, she is excited to be a Mountineer and we were able to by the obligatory sweatshirts, window stickers, key chains, etc before we left. (I told her I was NOT spending a fortune on WVU stuff unless she hear from NEU before we left)

Now iust just getting throught the next two month - the shopping, the packing, the letting go. At orientation yesterday they had a great analogy to describe the next few months. It's like a roller coaster, but to make it even worse, you are in the first car and your student is in the last!! When they are up you are down and when they are down you are up!!

Best of luck at PSU - I'm sure our girls will do great. Thanks for all your kind thoughts!

Daughter rec a letter today offering her spring admission. Of course shes not going to do it. But I guess its nice for someone who absolutely wants to go there..
