I was waitlisted -- BooHoo. What are my chances and when would I hear?

For Haverford, the chances of ultimately being admitted from the waitlist are typically quite small, although a lot can vary from year to year. If you look up their Common Data Set (or have a copy of the Princeton Review's college guide) they publish this data... last year, there were 200+ students accepting a spot on the waitlist, and one or two were ultimately admitted. Best of luck to you!

the exact info is on the internet. Try googling it.

basically though, approx 750-800 people are accepted each year and the same # are waitlisted. Of those, about 1/3 accept a spot. Last year, I believe 20-25 people came off the waitlist but the year before, it was ZERO... it can be pretty random.

good luck.

It's incredibly hard to say what the chances are, because
1. wild variation from year to year
2. of those people who do accept a spot on the waitlist, how many of them actively campaign for themselves (send letters/recs/etc) and how many don't do anything?

I was waitlisted too.

According to the Common Data Sets:
2002-2003:
602 placed on waiting list
208 accepting a spot
1 admitted

2004-2005:
831 placed on waiting list
206 accepting a spot
1 admitted

2005-2006:
610 placed on waiting list
169 accepting a spot
28 admitted

So, how should we approach trying to get off the waitlist?
