Waitlist Class of 2019

Hey everyone, I was waitlisted by UR and it was my top choice. Of course I was devastated. But I’m wondering how the waitlist works because I’ve been going on the forums and people are saying that UR sends out different waitlist letters. If that’s the case then my waitlist letter was pretty generic in my opinion, basically saying that my achievements were remarkable but they were unable to offer me admission at this time, and they hope that I decide to stay on the waitlist. They also included a waitlist brochure in the envelope.

Also considering that the waitlist is meant to diversify the student body, I guess I’ll give a little background about my self. I’m asian, from New York City like the actual city, not Long Island or Westchester.

Basically I’m asking how their waitlist works and if I have any chance of getting in at all.

I’m (unfortunately) waitlisted too :frowning: That sounds exactly like the letter I got; I’m not aware of the fact they send out different letters…thats odd. URichmond was my #1 choice too so i’m really bummed. But you might find this article interesting: http://www.thecollegianur.com/article/2015/04/admissions-rate-lowers
Basically, Richmond is climbing the ranks and becoming even more competitve. In the past, they really dont take that many off the list. The past few years they have overestimated their yields and have gotten too many students accepting their acceptances–so their freshman classes are overfilled. Learning from their lesson–unfortunate for us–they have accepted even fewer students from normal from an even larger pool of applicants. I can only hope that this maybe bites them in the ass and they overestimated how many students from a smaller pool will attend…forcing them to go to the wait list. Best of luck!

I was also wait listed. Do you know if we are ranked on the waitlist?

They don’t rank but will look at the most competitive folks for those who commit to the waitlist. If you have chosen UR as your number 1 school, please let them know that. It makes a big difference.
