I saw a website that had statistics for admitted students off the waitlist this year for UM. Does anyone know if it could be accurate? I feel like statistics wouldn’t be released until all final decisions are made. Also does anyone know if it’s reasonable to think that the yield was high enough so that no one needed to be pulled from the waitlist? My counselor told me that most people weren’t admitted until late May and I think that time period is just starting, but I’m just terribly worried. I know the chances of getting admitted are low but I sent in an essay of continued interest and an additional letter of rec so I’m hoping it will help me enough
nothing here as well
What’s the statistics? What’s the website?
The website couldn’t have been able to produce statistics for this year…as far as I know, even University of Michigan hasn’t prepared the official statistics for this year, only last year’s stats are available for viewing till now. So maybe you could share the website name so we could check for its authenticity?

@ottobot85 I do believe those are the stats from last year.
@ottobot85 I’m pretty sure it’s not this year’s stats, since Rice is oversubscribed this year and is only able to admit one student from the wl whereas the stats indicates a wl acceptance rate of 8%.
It’s absolutely last year. It’s say 2015-2016.
Ah that makes a lot more sense, I thought it was saying 2015-16 as in that year’s applicants. Thanks!
Did not expect this to happen on a Sunday, but I got a waitlist decision today at 3:00pm sharp. It was positive. Keep faith people! Mich is going to the waitlist!
@vanguard377 OH MY GOSH that is so exciting! Are you OOS?? I’m sorry i want in so bad
Yes I am out-of-state College of Engineering.
were you notified by email? How long do you have to respond?
Yes I was notified by email. I have one week to respond.
Congrats to you @vanguard377 ! I hope they go to the LSA waitlist for OOS soon. The waiting is killing us!
Thanks @ConcrndMom! I have faith guys! Let’s hope that the yield works in our favor. A bunch of people from my school for example got into Mich but did not go, so there are spots open as long as the yield is not very high. Best of luck.
Yes congrats! If anyone from LSA gets in let us know so we know if they’re pulling from the list to there!
Congrats @vanguard377 !!! What were your stats??
@lolonimous average SAT (2100), 2 SAT 2s (750, 790), 3.85 GPA unweighted (out of 4), 5-6 extracurriculars I really spent time on, and research for the past 3 years. I was applying engineering, out of state, and my dad is an alumni. Hope that helps.
@vanguard377 Congrats on your acceptance. I have seen a lot of folks on this thread talk about submitting the subject SAT. As far as I recollect UMich had mentioned that they did not need the subject SAT and any extra paperwork would just delay things. Do you self report or do you actually send it to them or do you mention in your continued interest. Thank you
