Waitlist Class of 2021!

Has anyone heard anything yet? It’s May 5th so i assume they have started contacting people but I don’t see many people hearing anything.

@willford21 Someone said they got off the WL, but they haven’t been back here to share details. They probably should start calling soon.

I got my call off the waitlist last Friday! I’m willing to share stats if curious but I’m not sure that it will help as college admissions aren’t a systematic process. I will however let you know that financial aid was a big issue for me and they told me they reserve the right to be need aware, with that being said they were need blind this year. I received a phenomenal financial aid package so try to stay optimistic, it was a complete shock for me! Best of luck!

Hi @Racspider I and as well as many other waitlist students would like to know your stats and experience with the call.

My gpa was a 4.2 weighted. I’ve taken almost all AP’s for my junior and senior year. I have about 4 ec’s and played a sport. In addition I also worked part time outside of school. My SAT score was a 1290. I will say I did feel that my essay was one of the strongest essays I wrote during my college apps. I also indicated Richmond was my first choice. The call was very exciting and unexpected! If you get an offer your respected admissions officer will call you with the good news! They’ll walk you through the next steps, and Financial Aid will formulate a package for you. It was pretty quick and not as painful as I initially thought.

How long did you have to wait to access your financial aid award? Or did they mention it on your call? Thank you for your input! @Racspider

One hour tops! They were really quick about it

Long time lurker, first time poster. S got off the waitlist a few weeks ago at UR and we are hastily getting rid of the t-shirts and hats we bought from his previous commitment. Those graduation party pictures will need to be touched-up. S loved the campus and the program and everyone we met was so friendly and enthusiastic and impressive. Seeing that caller ID from Richmond, Va. was such a heart attack for both of us - he could barely talk and I could hardly keep the car on the road.

And of course it’s never quite clear why one gets pulled from the WL but I suspect visiting the campus again and writing a heartfelt and sincere letter of continued and passionate interest in the school didn’t hurt.

@OCDaddy Congrats to your son!! I’m sure his letter of interest helped!

@OCDaddy Congrats to your son.

Also, here is some advice for parents of the class of 2018. Maybe you should not be preparing graduation cakes with the college logo on it and posting it on Facebook/Instagram as your kids may end up getting off a waitlist in late June!

Well, UR sent an email this afternoon. I guess they’re done going to the waitlist. Disappointed throughout this entire process to say the least

@willford21 What did the email say?
