the math 31b class im trying to get into is at 106 out of 120... and I don't sign up until saturday so im wondering if the class become waitlisted should I still sign up and try to get it? what are the chances of getting into a class from waitlist and is there any backup plans I can do or something? what do I have to do if im waitlisted?

Well, you still have to take into consideration the number of people who enrolled that will have to drop it from failing 31A. Just a thought. For now, certainly keep an eye out in the weeks following finals to see if you can squeeze into 31B. As for changes of getting off of the waitlist - dependent on the professor and willingness to let in more students.

well it is at waitlist now... what are the chances of me getting into the class from waitlist of 20? the professor is Preda if anyone knows her policies... also if I sign up for the waitling list does that mean there is a possibility of me not getting any 31b class at all?

Honestly, it just depends! Even if one said "don't worry, you'll get in!" it does not guarantee anything! Just wait and see? If not, beg the professor/TA? What do chances mean if you're still on the waitlist or you can't enroll at all? Does anyone's reasoning at this point (e.g. Boelter, Deuces, et al.) give anything besides a temporary relief that is all too unpredictable?
