waitlist = compliment

its a list of waitlisted people and apparently is verrrrrrrrrrrrrry long:D

I have to say--except for a select number of people, such as nomad, most of you kids that were wait-listed are real *******s. I am thankful you were waitlisted. I wouldn't want someone with your attitudes at my alma mater, anyway. Good luck to some of you, especially nomad.

notimetoexchange, I applied to washu because I actually felt that I would be happy there if accepted, but when I found out about the surreptitious and deceitful tactics they used to increase their rankings and their yield I immediately became disillusioned.

I had an interview and wrote a why washu essay, but, I guess I was too good for them(btw, I've had other colleges better than washu call me and try to recruit me!)

this just shows that washu is trying to weasel itself up on the rankings in a most dishonorable way

I agree. WashU is way too obssessed with the US News ranking. The fact that WashU doesn't have many standout programs but is a top-15 school at the same time makes it very popular to be the second-choice school. WashU could have used "why WashU" essay and/or made its own essay questions to help find more of those showing real interest. But that would significantly shrink its applicant pool and hurts its ranking and that's the last thing WashU wants to see.

Obviously, the "waitlist=overqualified" theory probably only has some merit to it. Congratulations to those who got accepted, you deserved it.

But seeing all these people waitlisted (myself included) has definitely disillusioned me with WashU. It's not really even the overqualified theory that ****es me off (although I think that's a pretty underhanded tactic), it's the fact that so MANY are waitlisted. WashU is not my dream school, but it probably is for some people on the waitlist. I think it's pretty ridiculous that WU wants the applicant to simply wait on this giant list in acceptance limbo. It's incredibly rude of them to simply put a hold on a great many of the applicants.

I doubt I'll even send in the card to get on the waitlist.

I was accepted ED II to Wash U. And while I definitely agree that Wash U should not have waitlisted so many people (it is actually rediculous- it seems that they don't even reject), I don't think that people are accurate in saying that they do it to raise their "US News ranking". I also think it is incorrect to state that "WashU doesn't have many standout programs but is a top-15 school at the same time makes it very popular to be the second-choice school". It is one of the top five in the country for pre-med, and from what I have heard, has amazing engineering and political science departments. While I understand that many of you are upset about being waitlisted, I don't think it is fair to make up information about the school which isn't necessarily true. Congrats to those accepted, and I also commisserate with those waitlisted/rejected.

I am sorry for the crazy waitlisting. Don't say that if you got in you are not qualified because that honestly is not true either. There is no black and white in admissions decisions.
Has anyone looked to see what the decisions were like last year?
Were there as many waitlisted kids, if so why didn't anyone forsee the excessive waitlisting months ago.

" Don't say that if you got in you are not qualified because that honestly is not true either."

i dont think anyone ever said that. and if they did theyre an idiot. the accepted students are the standard, they are the people that define what "qualified" is. its just a lot of the people on the waitlist feel they were not accepted even though they had better stats than many of the "qualified" students. whatever, ive already thrown everything ive ever recieved from washu away and i plan on forgetting i ever applied to this place, i hope the rest of you waitlisted do the same.

That is a very cleansing procedure.

i also pretty much shaved my head today, but that has nothing to do with washu :D

thanks notimetoexchange, i am goign to stay on the waitlist and say no if i am going to get accepted becse they wont give me any money ! I just want to see if i made or not !
