Waitlist= conducive to good financial aid?

I understand that basically my prospects for a good fin. aid package are limited to the funds the school has by the date everyone is supposed to enroll...but can anyone comment/criticize/vent/whatever about this?

I would love to get off the WL at my number one private school but know that if I don't receive any aid...it ain't happenin'.

It really depends on what school it is. Schools with huge endowments will still have money to meet your need.

it's a small liberal arts college on the East Coast....

You need to either post the name of the college or ask the college about whether they guarantee to meet the financial need of students accepted off the waitlist.

Bowdoin College in Maine.

I called them and they said that they are "hopeful they will have funds available to meet the need of accepted waitlistees"

But I am posting this thread to hear stories or perhaps some encouragement/discouragement regarding this kind of thing.
