<p>If one is accepted off a waitlist, how long does he or she have to notify the school whether they plan to go?</p>
<p>Each school sets its own deadline, and they will tell you how long you have to decide when they offer you admission.</p>
<p>That being said, the few specific cases that I know of where students came off the waitlist (at WashU, Emory), they had only 48 hours to decide, but one was able to get an extra day so that she could visit the school during that time period. The schools don’t really want to drag out the wait list process; they want you to decide quickly so that they can move onto the next student if you say no.</p>
