I’ve just called the admission today. The lady said they are still making phone calls; and that’s the best piece of information they can give us at the moment.

YES I GOT IN. -does happy dance-

Wow, awesome impero! I hope I have better luck. Did you get any aid?

Congratulations, Impero! Perhaps you need to change your location?

I’m an international, unfortunately, so if I’d applied for aid they might have rejected me. And yeah… the location… I’m still pretty torn about it all. That came as quite a shock to me, was a lucky coincidence too. Due to the high volume of junk I get from facebook I stopped checking my Junk box and apparently the e-mail notification went there. The officer called me after I didn’t respond for two days (while I was spazzing all two days)- glad he cared enough to do that. Good luck to everyone and oh, check your spam box :)

Congratulations Impero! Where are you from? I’m an international student too, currently class of '14!

Are you going for Carleton or Wesleyan??

A location change is in order. I was pretty torn about it so net force = zero. But then my parents advocated for Carleton for 2 hours yesterday so I guess there IS a net force. Sorry just can’t help with physics metaphors. I’m from Hong Kong. Where are you from?

How did they reach you? And did you submit additional stuff?
What were your stats? :)

my stats: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/12299996-post3.html

I actually didn’t send additional stuff… I mean I told them I won a quiz team tournament in February and how I took up violin again after I quit when I was 6 but they probably didn’t care about that. Didn’t mention my grades because they were on the decline LOL. and on May 8th I sent them another one liner about how even after a month Carleton is still my first choice. Basically reiterated my interest in both e-mails. They were short though. Half a page for the first one.

Impero. Drop me a PM.

I’m from Hong Kong too. I think you’ll find me a pretty good resource this coming summer. :)

And I’m SO SO glad Hong Kong will be represented in the class of 2015!

Anyone else Chelse?

Accepted… I don’t know what to do. Whitman or Carleton

cookie606: seems we may have the exact same decision to make…yikes!

@relativename and Cookie606: how can we help with your decisions? What do you want to study; what are you looking for in a school; what questions or concerns do you have?

Cookie606 and relativename, congratulations on getting into two great schools. You’ll get a terrific education at either one, so the question is from which will you get the most of what you want? Carleton is on the quarter system, Whitman the semester system, a rather big difference there. Carleton’s fast pace can be exhilarating or very intense depending on your outlook. The weather is pretty different also, much less snow and cold in Walla Walla.

My son decided on Whitman because he wanted a college experience with rigorous academics but a more relaxed environment. He is very challenged by the classes but finds the whole place nurturing and a lot of fun. He has time to join clubs, play intramural sports, become involved in student government and have awesome outdoor adventures.

Good luck with your big decision, I couldn’t help putting in a plug for Whitman.

^Small correction: Carleton’s on a trimester system.

Good luck with your decision and congratulations on getting off the waitlist!

This seems unusual as I seem to recall my upperclassmen friends telling me that Carleton almost never accepts people off their waitlist, it’s not very common according to stats. So I congratulate you guys! If there are any questions that I or other Carls can answer, shoot and we’ll answer it to the best of our knowledge.

I was really surprised yesterday… I didn’t expect the call at all. But I’m going to Whitman anyway. Sorry, Carleton.

There’s just something about Whitman that I cannot let go… Join me, relativename?

I guess I was rejected then. Sighs

I’m a current Carleton student with contacts in admissions, and I can say for sure that as of this morning they had not stopped admitting applicants from the waitlist, so you may still have a chance.
