Waitlist Decisions

Hey when you find out if you have been accepted or not could you please post here so we will know when Waitlist decisions are starting to come out? Thanks!

Do you have any clue when they’re supposed to come out?

They send them out in different batches throughout May. When I applied two years ago, the wait list officially closed around the middle of june. However, I’m sure admissions had their freshmen class a few weeks before. Right now they are just getting in final enrollment numbers.

In the past few years, BC has generally gone to its WL in the first week after May 1, perhaps starting this Monday?

The timing is all based on yield. Three years ago, BC didn’t close its WL until June 30 taking accepting students on that date.

If BC is your first choice, and you haven’t sent a continued interest letter (‘Why BC?’), my suggestion is to search this forum for posts by scottj and send a letter immediately.

Also, let you regional rep know that you WILL accept if offered a spot (if true).

According to last year’s wait list thread, BC sent out the first wave of wait list decisions by snail mail on May 9th and people received them around the 12th and 13th. Also, for the people who were accepted off the wait list, their Agora portals changed around the same time their letters were sent to allow them to put a deposit down for enrollment. I really hope they decide soon! I’m sick of waiting!

PGirl: I know it stinks to wait but hopefully the wait will be worth it! Our D got in in early June last year off of the waitlist. Look at BluBayou’s post as he/she has good advice on what to do to enhance your chances. Good luck

With 6200 students on the waitlist this year, how does BC decide who to call. Would a student with no “hooks” have any chance of getting off the waitlist? For those who have gotten off the waitlist in previous years, did you have a hook (legacy, URM, etc)?

Does anyone know what admissions may specifically look at for their waitlisted students?

Now it is all about filling in the holes in the demographics. Wait listed student are essentially very good and would have got in if “Lady Luck” was on their side. What ever ethnic profile you are, pray that there were better student than you that have chosen other schools so that a spot opens up for you. They have to fill that XX% for Caucasians, YY% for African Americans, ZZ% for Asians etc…

D was accepted EA in the honors program but decided to forgo for a UC Davis experience due to the costs involved. Good Luck to all!!!

D was accepted EA but chose Denison over BC for financial reason so another female opening…don’t know if geography weighs into BC equation but we live in Ohio.

Duke, Vanderbilt and UVA all went to their wait lists extremely early this year (around/before May 1st)… I wonder what that could mean about their RD yields.
Maybe BC will start calling people this week? I guess there really is no way we can tell.

Any news on BC’s waiting list? My son’s college counselor said that, as of Friday, they had not heard anything. And they had talked to other high schools in the area.

I have heard that there is a very high chance that BC will not be activating their wait list at all this year. It’s a very tough year for people on waiting lists- many schools had a very high yield this year and did not go to their wait lists at all. I am very disappointed to hear this, as BC was my number one choice.

Where did you get this information from?

Hi all … my neighbor’s son got off the BC waitlist. He received a letter on Monday, 5/14. (And yes, he accepted.)
