Waitlist email? What does this mean?

May 5, 2005

Mr. X

Dear Mr. X,
In April, we wrote to offer you a place on our Waiting List for the Class of 2009. We did so in recognition of your outstanding achievements and potential for significant contribution to the life of your college. As of today we have not heard from you. Unless you reply to this email by 9:30 am EDT, Friday, May 6, 2005, we will conclude that you have made plans to attend another college.

We very much appreciate the interest you have shown in us and we hope you will accept our very best wishes for your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
The Committee on Admissions

You should have received a little postcard in your letter from Harvard in April informing you that you were waitlisted. Did you send the card back to Harvard telling them that you would a) accept a spot on the waitlist or b)decline a spot ? If you never sent it/didn't receive one, this could be promising, they might be strongly considering you! Good luck!
