If I wish to enroll into a class where the status is listed as "Wait List" should I also enroll into another day/time slot for the class as well for safety? Or will that mess things up if/when I do get in off of the Wait List? Or will it be simple to just drop the extra class if that's what it comes down to?

I'm enrolling for a Math class that's listed as wait listed. The same class is being offered at a different time and different instructor, but the wait list class has a more favorable start time (not as early in the morning) and I've heard better reviews about that particular instructor.

I think it is common to be on some wait lists. You should have some time (not sure but maybe weeks before dropping out of a class). Check the academic calendar for drop dates before a penalty kicks in. If you find out first week of class that you have gotten into the wait listed class, you can then drop out of the class you signed up for. I definitely remember S was in a couple of wait lists. He got into a waitlisted class in the spring semester and then dropped the one he originally registered for.

Look at this calendar, Fall 2011. Looks like 9/19/11 is the last drop Date for undergrads before penalty applies. Also, notice the purging of active wait lists by date before drop date in fall 2011.

True. My D has enrolled in many wait listed classes, while in a less favorable class and when she gets in she drops the other class. This happens quite frequently. She just keeps checking Albert to see her status.
