Waitlist First Choice Letter?

Whats an ideal first choice letter look like?

Dear School,

Thank you for continuing to consider me for entry into your 9th/10th/11th/12th grade class. I write to firmly guarantee that, although I have been accepted into a number of other institutions, your school is where I envision myself attending, and it is for this reason that your institution remains my top choice. If removed from your waitlist (and given adequate financial aid, if need be), I firmly guarantee that I will attend your institution. Though being placed on the waitlist is disappointing, I believe that I can prove to you that I belong at your school. Thus, I will periodically write to keep your department abreast of my academic and extracurricular achievements in the hopes of painting for you a fuller picture of me as a person - a person who belongs at your institution.

Once again, thank you for continuing to consider my application.

Yours,

Name

Tom - Great letter!

Now please, everybody, let’s not copy it verbatim, okay?

Too late, just copied and sent out mine. Wait, I even left the “into your 9th/10th/11th/12th grade class” there as is! Epic fail, doomed!

ROFL, Hootoo I predict your cloned letter will be the golden ticket!

Oh, well. Guess I just have to add one more entry to the lesson learned thread. On the flip side, the school may consider it an usual strength that I am not afraid of making mistakes?

@hootoo; LOL did you really do that? Wow, good luck! :)

Anyway, I already sent emails out and they were something like this. (please don’t copy! just trying to give inspiration to other CC’ers. )

Dear SCHOOL,

Thank you for offering me a place on your wait list and I am glad that I still have the opportunity to be enrolled at SCHOOL. I appreciate the effort and care the admission committee has put into my admission decision, and I wish to remain on SCHOOL’s wait list.

Thank you,

NAME

hootoo didn’t do it. Just the opposite as hootoo decided not to remain on DF’s waiting list. Cloning the above email would have the same effect though. So in this sense yes hootoo did it.

@hootoo; oh you were just being sarcastic, right? I thought you might have been doing that, but it’s hard to tell online. xD Wait do you mean DF as in Deerfield? Or am I just stupid. xD

hootoo, your sarcasm is quite funny :D

Don’t send a first choice letter to every school.

^ Exactly. Doing so could deprive another deserving candidate of a spot.

Thanks!(: ^^

Are you guys typing or writing your letters?

LOL I copied the template and used it replacing certain areas in an e-mail but I forgot to take out the FA part, oh well  maybe they will over look it

I would not send an email, but rather a neat, handwritten letter from the student. That was the advise given to us from several admissions officers last year.
They get tons of emails.
