Got offered to put on the waitlist (and accepted the offer). Degree is Computer Science. Can someone explain in depth what this means, how it could benefit me, and how it could affect me negatively please?
Same
You’re pretty much waiting for those who have been admitted into computer science to either accept their admission or decline. Your chances of getting in depends on those who decline and free up a spot for someone on the waitlist. The waitlist is ranked by your eligibility index (GPA and SAT/ACT). The higher your EI is, the further up you are on the list and the higher your chances are to get off the waitlist.
Treat a waitlist as a rejection because you may not be accepted off of it and when the time comes, still SIR to another school in case you don’t make it off this waitlist. This way, you have a school you’ve committed to just in case.
However, if you DO get off the waitlist, you can contact the school you have SIR’d to and retract your commitment to that school. You will not get your deposit back, but you will be able to commit to CSUF.
Note that if you do get off the waitlist for CSUF, housing will be a bit difficult to get a hold of because it’s first come first serve. There may be rooms left, however they may not be the most ideal (they may be singles instead of doubles. singles can be pricey).
All we can hope for is that those with really high stats get accepted to some UC’s or other great schools and decline their offer of admission here.
Fingers crossed!
Me as well
I’m a local transfer for Computer Science. Got waitlisted as well.
@NessiexWx whats your gpa if u dont mind me asking?
@nset12 3.3 at Fullerton College (though CSUF calculated it as 3.263). Are you a transfer as well?
@NessiexWx yea i only have 3.02…i havent heard anything back yet though
@nset12 that’s too bad. Honestly several counselors and professors told me anything above 3.00 (local) was competitive enough to get in. This really sucks. Hope they don’t drag out this whole waitlist so we can find out if there’s a chance.
Still haven’t been admitted or denied…
I got waitlisted as Computer Science major too. You can see how their waitlist works at http://admissions.fullerton.edu/prospectivestudent/waitlist_transfers_general.php Your waitlist position depends on your GPA and they admit waitlist applicants according to the GPA from highest to lowest.
@Bluffalo Do you know if it’s one large waitlist pool or if it’s by major? Ty in advance
Also they only admit students from the waitlist if not enough people SIR…if enough students commit to the school, they may not accept any at all from the waitlist which is what scares me. It’s an impacted campus so I’m worried they won’t need to use the waitlist.
Anyone know what the minimum GPA is for out of area?
3.5 @itsmebutterfly
What’s your status? Just wondering because my son also got waitlisted yesterday. His major is also Computer Science.
I’m transfer applicant - Accounting major
I was placed on waitlist on 3/27. I just checked my status on Portal and I got accepted today. I think everyone should check it since the admission starts to send out their decisions today,
@pikachu2018 were you notified through email or did you check your portal?
@pikachu2018 What is your gpa? Do you have AD-T too?
@shaswizzle Hi, I check the portal on April 17 first and then got official acceptance email on April 18.
@udajathetransfer My GPA is 3.38 and I do not have AD-T.
However, I asked Student Transfer at my college to help me. They helped me to email the CSUF admission since they are afraid I was place on the waitlist due to GPA for out of local, but I’m actually a local student. I got acceptance immediately after they sent an email to CSUF admission.
