hi this is my first post on CC but anyways has anyone else gotten a waitlist fro csulb? i also got one from sdsu. What are the chances of actually getting removed from the waitlist from either of those and get onto the actual college. I have already written a letter to both those schools stating how they are still my number 1 school and how the school is perfect for me. I am looking to major into the prephysical therapy program at sdsu or kinseology at CSULB.

My stats

GPA-3.53
SAT(math and critcal reading)-1090

i have a 3.67 GPA and 1100 SAT(math and critcal reading) and i got into waitlist. i called them and asked them that how does the waitlist work and they said that they have no idea yeat and its the first year that they have a waitlist!! i got accepted to CSUSM so im wondering which one should i choose....

thats really weird because my friend got in with a 3.6 and an 1100 on the sat’s. i assumed every1 got in with a 3.6 and it was just my luck that i had a 3.52. what did admissions say when you called them? have you heard anytihng new?

That because of the budgets cuts. I they would nt have been cut millions of dollars most of the people rejected would have gotten in. Well I just got rejected period I have a 3.2 and a 21 in the ACT and got in to UCR,UCM and UCSC so LBSU can go to hell in my point of view

how did you get rejected today?? the deadline was april 1st, they should have told you that a while ago and wait that makes no sense, you got into uc santacruz with a 3.2?? you must have had some amazing letters of rec…an essay and extra curriculars

I have been offered a waiting list offer, I mean if you can’t get in csu with a 3.6gpa than it must be the budget crisis, thats what they said in my waitlist offer. I was in honors list in my last jc with 3.6gpa, if people are getting in to UC’s, and not state universities, than it must be budget, the sad part is that I didn’t even apply for impacted major, I am gonna talk to someone to see if I change my major to engineering to get off the waiting list. it is really hard to speak to someone there. I can’t really afford to go anywhere far, I was accepted to better colleges, but I need to stick with my family right now through tough economic times.

honestly it is sad when I see them making 61 million dollar wellness center over accepting students that wanna educate themselves and than complain about budget. I just hope I get in otherwise its a semester down the drain for me. and I really dont wanna go to fullerton, and I don’t think I can afford to go to UC without taking a loan.

I have been accepted to two other colleges but the plans changed and I can’t move away now. UC was one of them, may be things will be better next year since the Obama’s budget just passed. lol.

i know this is a really sensitive subject (everyone is so tense around college admission/choosing time)
but its best to make sure you know what you are talking about before you start going off on the colleges

the csu’s have a formula that they use for admissions that they will happily provide to you. it uses your sat or act scores and your gpa, because there is no place on the application for activities or essays. the formula places you on a list and thats how they choose who gets in.

also, the UC’s are state universities too and the higher ranked ones (ucla, ucsb, ucsd) are rejecting larger amounts also

a 21 on the ACT is equivalent to a 980-1010 on the SAT

the 61 million dollar wellness center is almost definitely being paid for by donations and/or it was started WAY before the budget cuts, so don’t get angry at it

for afra they told me when i went to visit the college that the best thing to do is proceed with you’re back up plan and then if you get accepted then you can decline your other choice and accept there’s. its looked down upon, but if you really want to go there that’s the way the suggest to go about it. I’m in the same boat as you and i wish you the best of luck!

I have also been waitlisted - in the letter CSULB sent they explained it was because of budget problems so idk… my stats are 3.5 cum GPA, 1640 SAT, and 23 ACT. My extracurriculars are pretty decent: 4 years water polo, 4 years wrestling, 4 years track and field. a few clubs…

Should I contact somebody at CSU Long Beach and explain that I really want to go to school there? Should I get another letter of recommendation to send or will that just annoy the staff and people…?

If all goes wrong, I can go to UC Santa Cruz but Long Beach is still my pick over Santa Cruz. What is everyone else’s opinion?

i got waitlisted for sdsu to… im just waiting for csulb i called today and still no decision has been made… im also waiting for csueb to reply… i dont know if this is a good or bad sign…
