I'm already in math 1a with another teacher but for scheduling reasons I want to enroll in borcherds' lecture. At this point, would this be too risky? i don't want to drop my current lec and end up not getting a math class.

What are the numbers at? And the problem could be with your discussion because you have to drop the discussion to change the lecture

well for math classes, its not as much about getting into the lectures as much as getting into the discussion sessions. If you can get into a discussion session, you will be guaranteed a spot.

Hi, I’m in the same predicament as OP, except for Math 54. This is the first week of classes, and I found out that it’s more than difficult for me to understand my current 54 prof. I checked out the first lecture by the other 54 prof, and want to switch over to his class. Unfortunately, it seems like both class discussion sections are full - is it risky for me to drop my current 54 class to wait-list myself for the other 54 class? (the discussion section I’m trying to get into has 0 on the waitlist currently, but I’m afraid if I drop my current class and the other one doesn’t open up, I might not have a math class at all…)
