I'm currently waitlisted #2 (out of 18 possible waitlist spots) for a Math 3A lecture, and #1 for a discussion time. In your experiences, have some people dropped Math 3A immediately on the first day of class? Basically, is it wise to stay on this waitlist and attend class on monday or should I just switch into the other professor's lecture right now?

Most math classes admit the waitlist anyway. See: [last year](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/schedule/detselect.aspx?termsel=10F&subareasel=MATH&idxcrs=0003A+++).

Awesome :). When did they start admitting the waitlists last year? However, the one problem this year could be that there are two other Math 3A lectures with another professor that are wide open (I just REALLY want this specific professor). Wouldn’t they force you into that other professor’s lecture rather than admitting you as a waitlist?

no they wont force u

I’ve never taken this class, but the professor decides when to do that. Usually it’s about a week. If you’re really concerned, then attend both lectures for a week so that you have a fallback.
