After hounding my son about contacting one of his waitlist school he called the admissions office. He spoke to a junior admissions advisor who suggested he write a handwritten not to the Dean of Admissions. After a few days of great thought he had me mail a well thought out note of explanation. He let them know that he was willing to turn down an offer to play soccer at a D1 school in another state because he felt that this school would be a better fit all around and explained why his grades weren’t in par with the test scores he had on the ACT and SAT. We received a call from the Dean 4 days later with an offer! The real jolt was on the same day he also received a letter offering him a 12K yearly scholarship. (48K total)!!! We about fell over. He is going to reject the soccer offer and attend this small prestigious school. My thoughts are his story was real and he was able to explain his faults in such a way that were believable andf heartfelt. Novelty works but so does the real stuff. I also know that fate or destiny stepped in for my son!
