so i'm in a pretty bleh situation right now

i applied to a lot of schools and i guess i over-estimated how "desireable" i would be to these schools. i ended up getting tons of rejections, both from UCs (i'm from california) and private schools. in the end, i only ended up getting in to 4 UCs - Davis, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, and San Diego. All great schools, no doubt of that, but not what I was hoping for (I really want to get out of California).

But, the huge "bleh" situation is that I was also waitlisted at Bowdoin, Carleton, and Wesleyan - three schools I would absolutely LOVE(!) to go to.

So now I have to wait and see. I'm really hoping I get off the waitlist at one of the three but i'm staying realistic. As it is it seems like I'm going to go to Santa Barbara (I know San Diego is a better school but it has a notorious reputation for having miserable students). I know I'll end up getting a great education and having a great time at UCSB (granted that I don't get any STDs or don't die of alcohol poisoning), but I'm hoping more than anything to get in to one of those three.

So those of you out there that are in sort of "bleh" situations like me, my heart goes out to you.

Anyone have any words of advice, wisdom, or stories of people getting off waitlists?
